Where is the best place to view Geminids meteor shower?

Featured Replies

Hi guys, there will be an annual meteor shower coming up in December. Peak date is predicted to be on 12 night to 13 early morning. I'll be in Koh PhaNgan around those dates but am willing to travel only to see the meteor shower. So my question is: Where is the best place to see it? Thanks :)

On Samui, if it's visible towards the west, then this location will be best because there are no buildings in this area at all. It'll be more tricker to get there though. There is a small road which is best for motorbikes, but car can get in it too and you better hope there's not gonna be another car coming from the other direction because one of you will have to do some serious reversing. At the end just before you'll get to the beach, the road will also go downhill quite steep angle. I highly recommend a 4WD if you're gonna drive there. If you look in google maps, you can see this road. Use your immagination on how to get there, because I think I've already told you too much about this "secret" place.

If it's towards the east, then this location should be best.

9.5841406,100.0796827

How to get there? Use google maps and turn on satellite images, or google earth and use your imagination...

Any high place to avoid light pollution

the most important is a complete absence of any other light
