I have been following this forum as closely as possible since the new rules were announced, but still am unclear about what exactly is being implemented. The new rules have been in place for a week now an I would like hear first hand experiences about obtaining tourist visas from Penang and returning to Thailand.

I understand the latest is that Penang is issuing 60 day single entry visas (not 90 as earlier reported) and that these can still be extended 30 days. There were reports of problems coming back into Thailand by land from Malaysia, and it was indicated that you should fly to avoid this. Can anyone comment on this from experience? I heard that people using up previously issued multiple entry visa entries were being denied these entries on reentry and only given 30 days. Is this true?

I have been living in Thailand for a few years on multiple entry visas and want to understand if I can continue to obtain single entry visas and use extensions to stay in the country. Do I have to do this by air?

Thank you in advance.
