Marriage extension to Thai Elite Visa

Featured Replies

Hi guys I am considering the Thai elite visa considering my marriage is very rocky and I might have to get a divorce soon. (500,000 baht is a lot cheaper than having a bad wife.)

What would be the process in switching from a marriage extension to a Thai elite visa?

Would I have to leave the country if I am currently in Thailand?

Also how can I pay for the visa can I just transfer from my Thai bank account?

It would be nice to not have to leave the country to do all this.

Thanks for the help.

Contact them and ask for an application form.

You can pay by direct transfer in Baht, I seem to recall this is their preferred method of payment. Once your application is accepted they will send you the payment account details.

You can do it without leaving the country, I believe it doesn't matter what type of visa you're in the country on at the time. The new 5 year visa with its 1 year stamp will take over from whatever you had before.

I was on a 30 day tourist visa extension when I got my 5 year visa inserted at Chaeng Wattana last year, there were no problems and I didn't need to leave the country. In fact I still haven't left in the last year and a half. I did a 1 year extension of stay in June.

I suggest you make use of the concierge service and have them meet you by pre arranged appointment when you go to Chaeng Wattana - this way you don't need to lift a finger or speak to anyone except the concierge - just sit around for 10-15 minutes while they do all the work and you're all done.

There is no extra charge for the concierge service, its included in the fee.

You would more than likely have to leave and re-enter the country. If you fly back into BKK they would do the PE visa at the airport when you arrive.

You can pay for it directly to their bank account from yours.

Best to contact them for further info.

I had the same thing you need to leave the country to cancel the visa.

Or you must have a divorce certificate then you can cancel it at immigration.

I left the country when i came back they waited for me and arranged it all.

But you can't use Don Muang it has to be the other one.

That is interesting, it's a completely different procedure from being on a tourist visa / tourist visa extension when applying.

If on a visa entry it would be possible, But with a long term extension of stay it has to be cancelled before they can issue the PE visa and then do a new entry using the PE visas.

Why don't you read and study the Thai Elite Visa website? You'll get your answers and then you'll have them handy anytime you need to review them.

"... more than likely" ain't good enough.

Immigration at the airport will not issue the Thai Elite Visa sticker in your passport. That has to be done at Chaeng Wattana immigration office.

I considered it best to write more than likely rather than saying it is a certainty.

The PE visa can certainly be be issued at Suvarnabhumi airport on arrival if an application has been approved and the fee paid. There have been many reports of it being done.

I would recommend going to their office in Bangkok. I did so and was assisted by an extremely helpful Thai lady who answered all of my questions. Her English was impeccable.

Best to speak direct with TE, always helpfiul on the phone and if you are in Bangkok they have offices near Chong Nonsi / Silom.

Just call them thailand elite -really, they will sort things out for you.

You will not need to leave the country. You will be able to do everything at immigration.

As explained above it all depends what type of visa you're using at the time when you apply.

For me I didn't have to leave, I was on a tourist visa extension at the time but others have confirmed above they did in fact have to leave to cancel their existing long term visa.

My experience was different. The Thai Elite Visa staff told me I had to get the Elite Visa sticker placed into my passport at Chaeng Wattana. Of course that was for the 'sticker' and not the entry or exit stamp.

If you are already in the country it would be done at Chaeng Wattana if you have an entry that can be changed to a one year entry from the PE visa when they put the sticker in your passport.

If a person applies while outside the country or in a case similar to the OP's they can get the visa issued at Suvarnabhumi on arrival.

If a person was to arrive at another airport or a border crossing they would have to go to CW to get the visa and entry.
