Justice minister to seek park evidence from redshirt leaders

Featured Replies

I still think the Park would be an ideal permanent home for the Museum of Corruption. 2 stimulating attractions with a common theme.

the 2 reds were arrested and detained for 10h by armed military, even before entering the park. The park's offices are located within, and that's where is to start with getting some documents to corruption.

the minister knows well, that the reds won't be able to bring hard evidence to him, he is just trying to mock them

I wouldn't think park offices are open for any and all to come in and look at documents???? A legal request would normally be required, right?

they are legal representatives of the political party, they have announced that they are coming.

that's why they were stopped way before the park.

but the real reason they have decided to go by person, and be arrested, was to bring back into public attention case of corruption.

the military earlier tried to shut any news and discussion on the subject, warning journalists and the public, even going as far as faking an assasination plot during bike for dad.

you seem to conveniently forgot that these two on are bail for terrorism and have restrictions placed on them. They have previously ignored thier bail restrictions and they should have been put back in jail where they belong.

Where in their bail conditions are they prevented from investigating evidence of corruption? If there were any such restrictions, then the people setting those conditions are obviously corrupt themselves. If this regime were serious about reform then they'd welcome help from any side of the polital spectrum to unearth it. No, this just stinks of cover up.

Weren't these two non democratically elected leaders (the irony will be totally lost on them and their peers), hoping to meet up with some "supporters"?

I doubt, as nothing more than members of the public they would have the right to enter park offices and demand to see documents and question staff. Maybe that's why they wanted their "supporters" with them.

If they can't produce any evidence they are wide open for defamation charges; which may possibly affect their "on bail" status.

Under what laws are members of the public allowed to pursue investigations into corruption themselves? Can they go to public service offices, and demand to see documents and question staff?

What would've been the reaction if someone turned up at PTP HQ and demanded to see the rice scheme accounts? So you would support Abhisit or Suthep or the "monk" going to PTP HQ mob handed and demanding to check documents and question people then?

And if they turned up mob handed, with "supporters" might not a potential trouble flash point require prior diffusion?

These two are known trouble makers, out on bail for serious terror charges, and were stirring the pot.

The can make any announcement they want - but it doesn't mean anything. Politicians and self appointed militia leaders are not police, DSI, or NACC investigators.

The went because they wanted to stir things up and divert attention from Yingluck's forthcoming trial and the Krungthai Bank scandal where some of Thaksin's co-defendants have been jailed.

The only reason why he is asking them for their evidence is to make certain that they don't come up for more dirt after the next bias investigation by the junta. What utter embarresment it will be if they come clean in their new "investigation" only to be confronted by more evidence of dirt.

This is a test of the accountability of this junta. Just like YS must be kept accountable for the rice scheme, the junta must be kept accountable for the building of the park as it was build with government funds (army budget) and only afterwards donations was supposed to cover these costs. As none of this information are open for an external audit or scrutiny, so we don't know how much state funds are still outstanding (if any). The correct way to handle this corruption would be to appoint an international auditing firm to audit the finances of the park. After this report is made public the NACC can then follow up with criminal investigations (if needed). The hypocrisy is now clearly shown, the junta is holding YS responsible (not only accountable) for the rice scheme, but on the corrupt park matter they are running away from been held accountable or responsible. Unfortunately this will be only the first of many such corruption cases. We are facing trillions in projects that was negotiated and signed without any transparency or civil oversight.

And some here will trust them to handle 3T Baht worth of infrastructure projects when they can't even handle corruption in a small park project.

I don't know why anyone ever thought the army would be inherently less corrupt than politicians.

If anything, they would be getting access to even more funds than they would have being outside govt.

People on here celebrating the army as saviours from corruption really needed their heads read.

As has been reported elsewhere, businesses are reporting that "commissions" have gone up to 30-50% of the project costs since May 2014... whistling.gif

Er, seems to have been a complaint about the prior Shin regime - jacking up the % creamed off and then not really delivering - a la tablets for children.
