Justice minister to seek park evidence from redshirt leaders

73-wpcf_728x409.jpg

BANGKOK: -- Justice minister Gen Phaiboon Khumchaya said today he would formally invite redshirt leaders for a meeting and to inquire their evidence to support their alleged corruption in the construction of the Rajabhakti museum park.

Gen Phaiboon said formal invitation letters will be sent to Jatuporn Phromphan, leader of the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD), and Nattawut Saikur soon for a talk and to seek their evidence to support the charge.

He asked them not to worry about but should help in jointly resolve the problem.

He said the ministry is ready to perform its duty if any unusual thing happens, but would like to see no untoward movement to create public disorder.

There was unconfirmed reports that the former army chief Gen Udomdej Sitabutr is to resign as deputy defence minister within this month after his two aides were allegedly found to involve with the lese majeste gang operated by “Mor Yong”, a once famous fortune teller who died in military custody of blood infection.

The two aides are still at large and one of them has been stripped off his colonel rank.

General Prayuth said today that their might have been some irregularities with the park.

the 2 reds were arrested and detained for 10h by armed military, even before entering the park. The park's offices are located within, and that's where is to start with getting some documents to corruption.

the minister knows well, that the reds won't be able to bring hard evidence to him, he is just trying to mock them

I am not sure which one of the two has the least credibility, jatuporn or Nattawut, on any topic that requires the intelligence to gather anything other than rumor and second /third hand tales of bad things that may happen.

To find someone to dumb down to their level may require a real search

"To find someone to dumb down to their level may require a real search"

Au contraire, the present administration is a treasure trove of worthy candidates.

THAI JUSTICE

Prove to me why you are seeing evidence in the Park scandal.

Never mind we arrested you before you could go to the Park's Office and ask questions or to see a ledger of money paid and to whom.

Why, why, why?

I wouldn't think park offices are open for any and all to come in and look at documents???? A legal request would normally be required, right?

Why, why, why?

THEY were claiming that they have evidence. If they don't have any then the Justice minister is correct!

they are legal representatives of the political party, they have announced that they are coming.

that's why they were stopped way before the park.

but the real reason they have decided to go by person, and be arrested, was to bring back into public attention case of corruption.

the military earlier tried to shut any news and discussion on the subject, warning journalists and the public, even going as far as faking an assasination plot during bike for dad.

Maybe they could just show the press conference Udomdej gave,as the man in charge of the project, where he confirmed that there was corruption involved.

They aren't lawyers and didn't get advanced approval to review potentially confidential documents. Congrats to them for trying to highlight corruption, but they've had plenty of opportunities in the past. Why start this process now?

But yes, we are living in troubling times....sad.png

I take it you are simply trying to make a joke, what political party are they members of, the reds are a terrorist organization that is run by & for thaksin and does not quality as a political party, The fact they announced they were going means nothing as they are both pathetic individuals that are lucky they are not locked up as they should be. I think you need to actually get your facts straight but then we all know reds only know how to make up their own stories to suit their requirements and that all their followers are simply pathetic sheep so nothing new here.

"Congrats to them for trying to highlight corruption, but they've had plenty of opportunities in the past. Why start this process now?"

Great line, aimed at just the right folks.

The junta PM has admitted irregularities, General Udemdej has openly said that kickbacks were solicited, 2 senior officers who are Udemdej's aides have escaped and no attempts made to find them. What more evidence does Phaiboon needs. There really no need to called for the red-shirts. He should stop his harassment and intimidation and concentrate investigating the grafts.

So I presume you know them personally ? Or are you judging people according to what Thai journalist are writing about them. In which case you are condemning people based on biased political views of some of the most pathetic journalist in the world.

Produce your evidence please

How do they personally know anything about the corruption at the park..

Everything they know is pure hearsay and so means nothing. Their knowledge isn't proof.

The only reason why he is asking them for their evidence is to make certain that they don't come up for more dirt after the next bias investigation by the junta. What utter embarresment it will be if they come clean in their new "investigation" only to be confronted by more evidence of dirt.

This is a test of the accountability of this junta. Just like YS must be kept accountable for the rice scheme, the junta must be kept accountable for the building of the park as it was build with government funds (army budget) and only afterwards donations was supposed to cover these costs. As none of this information are open for an external audit or scrutiny, so we don't know how much state funds are still outstanding (if any). The correct way to handle this corruption would be to appoint an international auditing firm to audit the finances of the park. After this report is made public the NACC can then follow up with criminal investigations (if needed). The hypocrisy is now clearly shown, the junta is holding YS responsible (not only accountable) for the rice scheme, but on the corrupt park matter they are running away from been held accountable or responsible. Unfortunately this will be only the first of many such corruption cases. We are facing trillions in projects that was negotiated and signed without any transparency or civil oversight.

And some here will trust them to handle 3T Baht worth of infrastructure projects when they can't even handle corruption in a small park project.

I don't know why anyone ever thought the army would be inherently less corrupt than politicians.

If anything, they would be getting access to even more funds than they would have being outside govt.

People on here celebrating the army as saviours from corruption really needed their heads read.

You are talking oversight in a case where nearsightedness/myopia is being shown by the person seeking evidence that has evidently flown the coop. Its the same old same old lock the chicken coop door after the chickens have flocked off sorry my mistake flown off.

Precisely !! However, even when general Udomdej admitted that there was corruption, for the sieg heil pro coup d'etat Anti-Thaksinistas nothing that a Red Shirt says or does is proper. Only Ammart, only the Bankokian Hi-Sos are above reproach and the law.

The "Justice" Minister is engaging in schoolyard bullying. This flows from the top.

Oh, I don't know, when it comes to credibility one could look at a certain general who oversees a justice system that has had 3 deaths in military custody in the past 8 weeks notably saying that one of them, Mor Yong was still alive but sick and then announced he was dead. How credible is that?

If I were a red leader I would be tempted to tell junta "You stole the country. You figure it out".

yeah, good idea! maybe he should be asking the people who were actually involved in the project...

Don't expect this investigation to go any where. coffee1.gif

My guess is that General U. eventually gets a slap on the wrist and pushed into the background so that the whole mess can be forgotten. Besides, everyone needs to be worried about attacks planned for the Bike for Dad event... whistling.gif

It's perfectly credible because they did a thorough investigation and independent autopsy before cremating the bodies...

Or vice-versa, ... I don't remember now, ... I've been confused by red shirts traveling to Hua Hin... cheesy.gif

As has been reported elsewhere, businesses are reporting that "commissions" have gone up to 30-50% of the project costs since May 2014... whistling.gif

Well, I wouldn't know, but believing that the boys in green are inherently less dodgy than the rest has to be the ultimate naivety.

Their entire raisin d'etre is to feather their own nest. The only people they fight are the Thai people anyway.

They havent waged a war on anything let alone corruption in a very long time.
