BANGKOK: The Democrat party has petitioned the National Council for Peace and Order to review an announcement which ban political parties from holding political activities.

In the petition letter addressed to NCPO chief General Prayut Chan-ocha, the Democrat party claimed that the ban had affected the party’s financial position because it could not receive contributions from its supporters and financial support from government’s fund for political parties.

The party cannot accept membership applications; cannot hold meetings to discuss national reforms and cannot hold meetings to take disciplinary actions against certain party members.

Democrat deputy leader Ong-art Klampaiboon said the petition was not intended specifically to settle a conflict between the party and Bangkok governor M.R. Sukhumbhand Paribatra who is facint accusations of mismanagement.

The party, he said, is accountable to residents of Bangkok who voted for the governor particularly when the governor was mired in corruption accusations.

Ong-art disclosed that there is a coordination problem between the governor and the party and the governor did not answer the phone calls of the party leader, Mr Abhisit Vejjajiva, or returned his calls.

The revolution starts now!

"...because it could not receive contributions from its supporters and financial support from government’s fund for political parties..."

That is exactly why they are doing this. They fear the opposition and are doing everything they can to stamp it out before the next election.

Well well.... this is what you preferred to have when you refused to run in the elections.... Learn to live with your mistakes and don't repeat them in the future.

Only hardcore yellows are allowed to demonstrate. You lot are too moderate!

And to think the democrats may of legitimately been in power if they hadn't of thrown their toys out of the pram.
