Surayud says Govt to rush to end martial law

BANGKOK: -- Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont said Tuesday that his government would consult with the Council for the National Security to try to end the martial law as soon as possible.

He was speaking to a press conference after his first Cabinet meeting.

"We will try to end the martial law as soon as possible," Surayud said.

He said his government gave priority to the people's rights and liberty so the issue would be raised for discussion with the CNS.
