Government is confident its on track towards solving issues in the south

BANGKOK, 8 December 2015 (NNT) – The government is confident it is on the right path towards solving problems in the southern border provinces.

Southern Border Provinces Administrative Centre Secretary-General, Panu Uthairat said during the “Thailand Moves Forward” television program that adjustments have been made to enable problem solving in the southern border provinces to succeed, following the National Council for Peace and Order’s (NCPO) directions . A committee has been set up to expedite problem solving in the south, creating clear results, through the cooperation of soldiers, police and the local people.

Progress has been measured by means of a public assessment of educational standards, society and economics. The number of unemployed workers has decreased, while income per household has exceeded 20,000 baht per month. The number of tourists has also surpassed a previously set target of 10,000 a month. Businesses have expressed interest in investing in the area. Meanwhile, the government is gearing up to prepare a budget to construct an airport in Betong.

In terms of peace making efforts in 2016, the government has already created a network of over 30,000 residents and is preparing to support them in becoming a family with good morals. Members of the extended family are encouraged not to use drugs, to help the public, and not create problems for society.

Isn't this woeful reporting. Not a single source given for the various claims made! Or is it that if the NCPO tells us something, it has to be true as our fearless leader would never lie. Do Thai people anywhere really believe this kind of drivel?

The only reason is confident is because they are the the ones being attacked and never attack the muslim attackers. They do not want to engage them in battle and piss them off. But they only see this as a sign of weakness and will prepare to turn Buddhist into muslims. Do not worry about the color of shirts but only on your true danger!

More mantra no results because in LOS doing nothing about problems is the cultural norm and no executive can manage inaction.

With, as strange as it seems when I look around me, according to OECD average income per capita in Thailand was between 14,000 and 21,000 bahts/month in 2012 (source: http://www.oecd.org/site/seao/Thailand.pdf) and per household at 18,300 bahts in 2007 (same).

So I'd assume that based on these figures, nowadays average income per household should be significantly over 20,000 bahts/month.

This would make the southern region below average.

If someone finds better stats, please share.

Was wondering how many have died and the number is close to 6500, yet it barely hits the news anymore as it has become so common.
