Musicians perform at Stone Free 3 in January 2014 Kanchanaburi province.

BANGKOK — The Stone Free Music Festival was canceled at the last minute after its organizers were unable to win concessions from authorities to stage the event set to begin Friday in Saraburi province.

Organizers, who had not told fans and attendees the three-day festival was in jeopardy, posted late Tuesday night that the event was canceled and would hopefully be moved to mid-January after they were unable to win concession from local authorities.

“Those who have already purchased the tickets but could not attend the festival as per the new place and times, we are more than happy to issue you with a full refund,” read the announcement on Facebook.

Thailand is quickly becoming a place no one will want to be in

Now you can't even get permission for a music festival? Too political, I suppose. This regime is becoming seriously unhinged.

I dont see ACDC or Mick and Keith stopping, they do their business in countries that welcome foreigners and are easy to do business.

In this case it was the locals who threw a spanner in the work and withdrew previously granted permission at the last minute.

The local bib are claiming the need for govt permission being required to cover up the fact they are unwilling or more likely unable to do their job.

I think you're right

There is definately something wrong happening here.

....rescinding approval that had already been granted.

The organizers can sue the authorities for financial damages.

Oh tomacht8, do you think that the organisers would ever be able to stage another event when sueing the authorities?

A typical impulsive reaction with no far sight.

The situation is already clear, but one need not to swallow everything.

They are intended incurred financial losses.

As a concert organizer one is not a suitor.

But a good organiser is insured ?

No music festivals, no party boats, kanchanaboring.

How would any business or organization want to take the risk of doing business in Thailand? The political uncertainty and rules and regulations and governing bodies is so disparate.

I just think they had their teaparty with the wrong persons!

Amja

Stone Free Happiness Festival.

Adjustment-friendly.

Now, maybe if they'd called it ' Music For Dad ' festival.

One of my favorite songs of all time seems appropriate for Thailand at the moment!
