Internet connection to other countries

Hello

I have to do some things for a company that has servers in Germany.

After some speedtests, I found out the connection to germany was the worst. Switzerland showed same speed as Bangkok, but 10times slower ping.

And Germany came up with even double ping of this and 1/3 of the speed.

Is there a way to connect there better? I need to use a Java tool....

best regards

Some details could help.

What provider/technology and package do you have? (mobile, WiFi, DSL, fibre)

What speedtest did you actually use?

Was it specific for the servers of the company or just arbitrary?

Can you give a concrete number (MBit/s) to Germany?

The ten times ping is completely normal.

Speed of light is limited and speed in optical cables (undersea cables) is even "slower".

And many other factors (which route, how many switches in between) influence ping tme.

Currently I have a typical ping time to Germany of 230 ms (web.de).

Whats yours?

IF

Switzerland provides you access to faster / higher speed bandwidth from your location and ISP in Thailand,

-and-

Switzerland provides high speed access / bandwidth to your Germany-based server,

THEN maybe consider getting a VPN connection in Switzerland from which you can then connect you to Germany.

//EDIT

Did some tracert using web.de and hostpoint.ch domains from my TOT Fiber Optic connection here in Northern Thailand

...both flowed through telia.net and give roughly the same ping times of 242-244ms.

I don't know of any reliable way to test actual throughput (unless you know of speed servers based in those two countries)

How providers are 'peered' will have a big impact on throughput.

I checked that at my gf place with ais dsl.

at home I did not do the speed test yet, I have true dsl there.

Now in the mall the ping is half at 249 using truewifi

It's about the connections running from thailand to rest of the world. Yes.thailand does know need more lines, but they really care if you connect with the world outside thailand?.

The ping/latency is normal and can not be improved much although major new sea/land cables are under construction.

Hopefully one of them will become operational in 2016.

"SEA-ME-WE-5" should bring much better bandwidth.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SEA-ME-WE_5

What is hard to explain why Switzerland would come out significantly better in speed than Germany.

Would require an exact look to the route (traceroute) and what servers are tested.

Also tests have to be repeated and at different times of day.
