PHUKET -- Two men died on Phuket’s roads after the driver missed the bend and crashed his pickup truck into a streetlight pylon near King Power on Chao Fa West Rd, Wichit, early this morning (Dec 18).

Police and rescue workers arrived soon after 2:55am to find the bodies of the two men pinned inside their crumpled Nissan pickup truck, saidCapt Somkid Onchan of the Wichit Police.

“We were able to identify one man, the driver, as 24-year-old Surapong Saelee from Chiang Rai, but we are still trying to identify his passenger,” Capt Somkid said.

Probably one of those modified whistling diesels belching black smoke that race around the island.

Sorry not interested and boring. Fact of life in Thailand not even news worthy, a boring regular occurrence

A misleading title I would say.

A "streetlight" crunching a pickup like seen in the picture and killing two?

It would require a massive power pole or the like for such damage.

Something missing here.

I assume crashing the streetlight was just a "collateral" of a high speed accident.

Looks like the truck has rolled over at least.

Looks to me like it went in sideways, that pole will have easily done that damage.

i once saw a Mercedes in los angeles completely wrapped around a power pole almost like a horse shoe. the point of impact was the drivers door as the car slid sideways. the pole was stopped at the center console running between the two seats. both passengers were dead and pinned into the area that was the front passenger seat. one was a beautiful blonde.

PhuKet is like a slaughter house, that must be around 10 killed this week

Quite agree, Only consolation for those on Phuket is he will never bother anyone on the roads again , mai pen rai.

These two apparently came all the way from Chiang Rai to wipe themselves out on an innocuous bend at 3.00 am.

Perhaps they had been sampling some of the product they were delivering.
