December 19, 201510 yr Hello, We're about to apply for my wife to visit Australia using online visa application. We'd appreciate some feedback from people. No more VFS? Also anyone know when the processing of visas will stop/restart for Christmas holiday period?
December 19, 201510 yr On-line AND VFS are still available. Even direct to the Embassy is possible, though they strongly suggest you apply through VFS. Good Luck getting it before Christmas. Might be doable if everything is in order and your wife has applied and been granted an Australian Visa before, and complied with it's provisions. Luke

My understanding is Thai people are unable to apply online for a visa? I am going to the embassy Monday for a separate issues and was planning on lodging an application Tuesday at VFS as I thought they no longer accepted applications at the embassy?
December 19, 201510 yr My apologies, after looking at the border.gov.au website, Thai passport holders are eligible.

Can't find info on website. Thanks. They will be open everyday except the public holidays per OZ and Thai. Xmas is usually busy with people away and more applications to process, so workloads may be longer to process.
December 21, 201510 yr Online applications definitely work for Thai nationals. MUCH easier than going to VFS. Saves the VFS processing fee too.

Luke From my experiences you can't lodge an application at the embassy. I was there this morning to apply for passport, asked if I could lodge a visa application while there for my partner and the said no you need to go to VFS.

It does look like they have changed it a bit. http://thailand.embassy.gov.au/bkok/Visas_and_Migration.html They used to say a weeks turn-a-round if submitted through VFS and a month if through the Embassy (subtle ) but it's been reworded now and the direction is for all to go to the VFS. Thanks for highlighting that to me -
December 21, 201510 yr Thailand is definitely not on the list of those eligible to apply on line. Seems things have changed. Previously when my partner and I applied she was not eligible to apply online but if you take a look on the website, it now clearly states Thai passport holders can apply for a tourist visa online. From the size of the list, it nearly looks like every country in the world can now apply online.
December 22, 201510 yr Thailand is definitely not on the list of those eligible to apply on line. Not true. Thais can indeed apply online. Someone I know just did it. You create an account at the Oz immigration website, then apply, and upload documents: https://online.immi.gov.au/lusc/login More here http://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Visa-1/600-

December 22, 201510 yr I don't think it has always been the case that Thai people can apply online. My partner came to Australia with me in January this year, back then I am positive she couldn't apply online. The list now of eligible applicants is huge, looks like nearly every country in the world. Not sure when things changed.
December 23, 201510 yr *Tourist visas can be done online if lodging tourist stream applications. *If your wanting a partner visa. Find an Australian Registered agent who can to lodge online for you. Otherwise all other non registered agents and self helped applications, need to lodge paperwork in bangkok VFS/Embassy.
