France makes 200,000 World War II documents public

PARIS: -- Seventy years after the end of World War II, France has made public 200,000 documents from the so-called Vichy regime which helped Nazi Germany deport 76,000 Jews from France, including many children.

The papers are mainly from the archives of the foreign, interior and justice ministries as well as the police.

“If there are documents [that will help us] make progress, in my opinion it’s better to know about the collaboration and mainly about the military collaboration between the French and the Germans, the collaboration amongst the most fierce of the French of nazism and fascism that they were working inside the German organisations,” said historian Denis Peschanski.

Family members of victims will now be able to find out exactly what happened to their loved ones.

About bloody time.

The French police was a very good assistant NAZI forces.

When did Germany asked for only Jews male adult, the zeal of the French police conducted children in death camps.

That information should have been made public immediately.

Can of worms opened up.

I hope some of the unknown ones are still alive so they can be humiliated, and hopefully prosecuted.

The French have had the rule for a long time , it is 70 years but I think the law is 100 years normally , there are some records we would like to look at but will probably not live long enough! These are post WW2 records we want to see.

Oops !!

Good timing.

The right throughout the EU are trying again to get into government so this is an excellent refresher from their own history on the continent to reject the extremes.

Putin is funding a number of rightwing parties in numerous countries of the EU so this release points right back to those responsible for the fires of death and destruction that leveled the continent and slaughtered its population. And drew in others. Inevitably so.
