Year of gloom, discomfort, distrust : TJA
The Nation

THAILAND -- Thai journalists performed their tasks under the condition of gloom, discomfort, distrust throughout 2015, according to a summary by Thai Journalists Association (TJA).

Limited freedom of speech prevailed under the order by the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO). Thai media were also subjected to tight scrutiny and faced Cabinet members’ negative attitudes.

It summarised a long list of "summons" throughout the year, which created the "gloom, discomfort and distrust" across Thai society.

Meanwhile, the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission also exercised its power in line with NCPO’s order against some TV channels over their contents.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha resorted to harsh words against media in more than 10 occasions in the past year. He often branded the media as part of the effort to disunite the country, though the media’s duty is to reflect different opinions which will lead to peaceful solutions, said TJA.

How can they call it gloom discomfort and distrust across the country? Seems to me that their gloom distrust and discomfort is limited to them only. Being that they are the main channel of news to the reds this article reaps of their trying to sow gloom discomfort and distrust to the people

No, No. There is peace and order bringing happiness to the people. 99.8% are so happy they could just crap their britches.

The Nation needs to get with the program.

Cheers.

Thai journalists are a joke.

I watched the protests unfold (including a lot of facebook pictures as it happened) and then I saw what the likes of Bangkok Post and Jonathan Head from the BBC wrote.

I was disgusted by the bias in their stories. Someone should tell them that missing out certain bits of information is exactly the same as lying. When 'anti-government protests turned violent' they always forgot to mention the only violence was Pheu-Thai terrorists murdering innocent people. And giving out the number of dead without indicating how many were the protesters themselves was shameful.

Maybe they are just bought or maybe they don't want grenades or a firebomb on their front porch. Either way they are a disgrace to their profession.

What was REALLY interesting is how Bangkok Post changed almost overnight almost the same day the protests started. Along with those stories, their forums suddenly gained a lot of new members. All claiming to be Thai, all pro-Pheu-Thai with that childlike, meaningless rhetoric style we see a lot on here and all with excellent English in the same writing style.

I have no sympathy for them. They are like every other 'professional' in this country : devoid of ethics. I hope they get the reform they need and a code of ethics they are held to.
