BANGKOK: -- The Higher Education Commission will explore possible solutions to Assumption University’s prolonged management conflict at its meeting tomorrow.

Some Assumption University (Abac) council members yesterday asked Education Minister General Dapong Ratanasuwan to intervene in the issue, after Dr Sudhiporn Patumtaewapibal last week failed to take up his role as the acting president of Abac.

Dapong, however, said he would wait to see what came out of the Higher Education Commission's meeting before commenting further.

"I believe the commission will look into the issue fairly," he said.

He expected the commission to present its recommendations after the meeting.

Abac council member Brother Wisit Sriwichairat insisted that Sudhiporn had the right to be acting president based on an injunction order issued by the Civil Court.

According to the order, Sudhiporn is supposed to replace Brother Dr Bancha Saenghiran. However, Bancha insisted that he was the rightful president.

When Bancha and his supporters tried to enter Abac's Hua Mak campus last Wednesday, a physical confrontation ensued. The management conflict has dragged on for several months despite the Education Ministry's mediation attempts.

Close the university down. Chuck out all the meatheads and reopen with a completely new management that actually have experience in running a successful university (if such could be found in Thailand)
