dtac customer support what is the number, i can't find it on the website

i can't send SMS i get a card error for anyone I SMS, i'm assuming i get SMS on my 420 Baht /plan , it's not internet only i know that

i think it is 3 G/month

and I guess i have to top up to 420 before the end of 30 days from when i got the new SIM?

If you are writing about PrePaid Tourist Add-On Package, then NO. It doesn't come bundled with SMS.

The 429 THB "Ready to Use for 30-day stay (Light User)" package says it includes 3GB of 3G Data Internet at maximum speed 42Mbps and 30 Minutes All Network calling, but no mention of SMS.

You require either credit on your account (3 THB on DTAC network, 8 THB off network), or purchasing an additional Add-On Package that includes SMS.

Interesting remark.

There was a thread recently about "card error xx" when trying to send SMS?

that must be it, i had an old expired DTAC SIM, went to Asoke 6th floor to get a new one, and was told that this tourist SIM, was the only one for me. I explained I didn't want a toursit SIM, but was offered no alternative.

is that the case, I have an O-A visa,

I believe earlier in the year, I have 3GB plan for 399 B that did include SMS.

I'm going to be here 90 days fwiw

hmm, so I go 7-11 and get a some kind of DTAC top up card, or I get 30 min voice for the month and no SMS,

but if I top up i get some amount of voice and SMS?

generally i have to top up to 429 by the date of the end of my 30 day cycle?

actually i'm pretty sure Asok Term 21 6th Fl. sold me this at 420B / month. ; so do I top up to 399B by the end of the 30 day cycle ?

if I add money to it for SMS, would SMS even work? and would I lose that credit at the end of the 30 days cycle?

Smartphone Monthly 399

OK, the 429 THB was the cost of the SIM plus a 399 Add-On package.

The easiest thing would be to leave a balance on the account that can be used automatically when you send an SMS, or if you know you'll be sending x number of SMS then chose an Add-On that bundles SMS ...like the 'snow white' package

FREE 50 SMS to all networks
Activation shortcut: *104*787*9# send
Service fee 7 baht / day

sorry i dont know what "leave a balance on the account" means.

um, 50 sms's for 1 month for 30x7B = 210 B for 50 SMS's ?

i'm a newbie at how even 'activation' works, ; would i punch in that number, and then have a debit begun, payable at end of the month, when i go to put in the required

399B to continue my service , etc etc

I'd swear 1 year ago i had 3GB of 4G data, and voice for 400 B /month, not 750Mb of 3G data, and 150 min of voice only ........sigh

Your DTAC PayAsYouGo/PrePay SIM card is actually an account, identified by its phone number.

Pre-Paid accounts are... prepaid. There is no 'pay at the end of the month'.

When you initially purchase a SIM Card it will come with a preset price rate for for individual voice, sms, mms, and data minutes (different SIMs vary the price-rate charged for each service). While many SIMs come bundled with some services, once that expires you need to either purchase a 'code', or 'TopUp' the balance of mobile account so you have credit to pay for per-use minutes, sms, mms, or Data Internet -OR- pay for an Add-On package (one-time or reoccurring) where you pre-pay for bulk services (usually at a discount rate, which pre-determined expiration limits if not used).

Any balance left on the SIM account will roll over into the next month, unless you allow the remaining 'validity' of the SIM to expire where you then forfeit the balance as the SIM account expires, or use 'services' unexpectedly that eat into the remaining balance (Like when you don't have a Data Internet 'package').

Since you have a Tourist SIM you'll be charged at its pre-determined rate for per-use services for , unless you have also purchased an 'Add-On Package' (ie: your purchase of the 399 Data Internet Add-On. According to DTAC web site, the Tourist SIM on it's own includes:

100 Baht call credit

Unlimited Internet* for 7-day usage (Maximum speed up to 1.5GB)

Call dtac 0.99 Baht /min

Call non-dtac 0.99 Baht /min

SMS dtac 3 Baht / message / number

SMS non-dtac 8 Baht / message / number

MMS Domestic 5 Baht / message / number

MMS International 15 Baht / message / number

2 Baht / MB *

Valid for 35 days after activation

*Rate-Plan after bundle services consumed or expires.

For the 'Happy Snow White' add-on package:

Package ‘Sending free 50 SMS to all networks” (Subscription fee is 7 baht)
The customers are entitled to the privilege of domestically sending SMS between mobile phone, or from a mobile phone to an email.
The alphabet count per 1 SMS:
70 Thai alphabets
70 Thai and English alphabets
160 English alphabets
This package excludes the charge of MMS service which can be convert automatically from multiple SMS that caused by user’s phone functionality.
The subscribed package will be valid until the end of the subscription day.
Apply by pressing *104*787# and call.

It's always best to read the Terms and Conditions of anything you purchase.

so i could go down to the 7-11 and add say 300 baht, and just having money on the account in excess of my initiall 399 , would mean i COULD send sms's ?

but, towards the end of the month I should have at least 399 on the account to reactivate the BASE plan ?

Yes.

I'm assuming you were successfully sending/receiving SMS or voice calls before, but once the initial 100 THB call credit was exhausted that ability was halted. So if you 'TopUp' at 7/11 then that ability should be available once again.

You could always contact DTAC to verify what services your account has available, and what is required in order to use them.

seems almost like an internet only plan, with so little voice and SMS. ; hmm

ya, i made just a few short phone calls, and like 1 SMS

......so the way it works, is one must have the same amount in the plan at the end of the 30 days cycle, in my case the 399B???

If you want the package with the 'reoccurring' option to automatic renew, then yes you need to have that amount available in the account at time of renewal.

As stated, there are several 'options' for obtaining 'services'.

TopUp the account so itinerant service usage can be billed against credit on account

TopUp the account and select 'Add-On Package' to pre-purchase a service (generally at a discount)

using e-service app or dial codes

Purchase a redeemable Package 'Code' (usually printed on a receipt or scratch-card) good for a TopUp amount or only a specific service.

I would say that most people will leave a TopUp balance on their SIM Account to make voice calls and send SMS as needed, but will use a selected Package for Data Internet (or turn DATA off completely) due to otherwise high cost.

1678 then 9 for english, then 2 for balance, but then it says hold the line you will be transferred to operator, and i presume be charged 3baht?

can you only get your balance via 'operator' or should i just allow it to complete

iirc, there was a * code to get a SMS of one's balance , sorry to ask before delve-ing into the dtac homepage, thx
