Ministry of Tourism and Sports organizes activities to promote tourism by night

BANGKOK, 7 January 2016 (NNT) – Tourism and Sports Minister Kobkan Watthanawarangkun disclosed that her agency is organizing activities to promote tourism such as lighting to attract tourists during the night and other activities.

The main goal is to encourage tourists to stay one more night in Thailand, from an average number of nine nights per person to ten nights per person.

In addition, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports will upgrade qualitative tourism within the first two quarters of this year by not focusing on the number of tourists but on revenues from tourism sector.

"............ organizing activities to promote tourism such as lighting to attract tourists during the night and other activities."

Very illuminating and no doubt, exciting to boot !

I thought night activities were already a major part of Thai tourism.

They need lights in the spin factory coffee1.gif

Another bright idea from the Ministry of Silly Thoughts

Maybe sidewalks/ pavements that tourists can walk on whilst looking at the "lights" without breaking their necks?

The night bazaar in Chiang Mai is a great idea. The tourism minister is right, more of the same please.

Evidently, the Tourism Ministry thinks tourists are like flying insects.

Anyway, I would say the nightlife in some parts of Thailand is more than adequate. Or is that not the type of activities we are promoting?

Finally, you don't improve quality by focusing on revenue; you improve revenue by focusing on quality. Just another help tip for those bassackwards folks at the Ministry of Sports and Tourism.

The minister should be going to bed early and getting a good night's sleep instead of staying up late working on daft ideas, projections based on fantasy and BS figures.

She should be focusing on ASEAN and not street lights.

Crikey. Ladyboys have been in existence since before Julius Caesar. The honourable minister is about 2000 years too late. giggle.gif

At night the mosquito's come out, why the restaurants don't have free mosquitospray for their guests? Those curled smokethings don't work well.

To promote tourism Thailand should have (develop) the best beaches of the world. Not loaded with ladyboys but with nice terraces, lights, music, good wooden chairs, boulevards for shopping, no noisy motobikes and soidogs, police, reefs, pina colada in coconuts, streetmusicians and jugglers and of course very good pavements/cheap transport.

So she expects John, Henry, and Hans after nine days doing what boys do in Pattaya, to stay an extra day to watch Lighting !!

Good luck with that!!

Dear Madame Popcorn: Any progress on the wristbands ??

If this bright idea fails, then I suppose we could always apply article 44. making it compulsory to stay another night.

Lighting to attract tourists!

You couldn't make this sh1t up, even if you tried really hard and be very drunk!clap2.gif

"to promote tourism by night"

Sounds like they will re-vamp Nana plaza giggle.gif

So now Thailand is not only rainmakers, but have managed to control nature even further, so now they can organize lighting !!

You couldn't make this up............................coffee1.gif

Another beer glass lifting contest / event???

All foreign tourists are leaving with their booked flights. They won't stay a night longer. Only the those that miss or missed their plane would.

LOS

A "S" for Stupidity !

In today's Sydney Morning Herald there is a piece on the breach of DNA protocol and a forensic expert refuting Thai claims they have the murderers in a case ( we are all firmilar with)

The article implies a cover up ..etc.

Page 13.

My point is Thais think people don't read.

People like Juntas

People don't mind being told when and what they can think or say.

Or don't object to reading about their abuses and will somehow not only show up.

But stay longer to look at pretty lights.?

Maybe with Chinese New Year this might work.

Westerner numbers are down

And heading further south.

They won't reveal so often the stats .( which are themselves bogus)

But visiting a country with murderous cover ups and junta rule

Propaganda and human rights abuses over the populace is not going to freely happen for you.

2016 might be the year come June when it's obvious that your economy and tourism is getting ill.

The more stories that refuse to die ( Here)

Then eventually many people say "" where else"?" when deciding .

The truth is the place is not so alluring anymore

In the beginning we had a good laugh reading your bs, mam.

Now you are becoming rather annoying. Please go home.

Sounds like panic mode, or last ditch.?

Problem is, she is home.

Prayuth probably thinks, she is pure genius..................coffee1.gif

Next big idea will be to cancel all outgoing flights 2 or 3 days/month.

That would do it for sure.

99% of people asked why they continue staying in Thailand said ""bright lights""

Lighting to encourage tourism ?

Need to go fast on that BRILLIANT idea to be developed... clap2.gif

I am been told that a few other countries now also have lighting during the night..... cheesy.gifcheesy.gif

Competition is going to be tough...

Even TAT didn't dare announce this one lol

First, place proper lights on the roads and sois. Even main roads in BKK are not properly lit. Can't we make the place safe, and maybe clean first?

People don't want to go out at night, if it's not safe.

My mother used to say numb skull~it's a nice way to say retarded, which, by the way, is not a derogatory word.

Haha. Guess owners of Nana and Soi Cowboy not getting enough customers. TAT will help promote nightlife!

Lighting to encourage tourism ?

Of course, can't keep them in the dark like the "natives".;-)
