January 13, 201610 yr British oil major BP has made plans to slash 20 percent of its North Sea workforce by the end of 2017 bringing 600 jobs at risk. http://www.offshoreenergytoday.com/bp-plans-to-cut-600-jobs-in-north-sea/?utm_source=emark&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=daily-update-offshore-energy-today-2016-01-13&uid=217924
January 14, 201610 yr Yes it's not showing any signs of improving neither. I and many others have lost jobs in the past year or so.
January 15, 201610 yr It's seems to be not only the Norh Sea area at risk. They only forecast for this area, but what about whole workforce balance in oil industry?
January 15, 201610 yr It's dire. As a contractor on a day rate, oil companies are now pressing the agency I use for the same rate I was getting 10 years ago. That's now, in another six months, I'm sure it will be even lower than that. I refuse to be part of the race to the bottom, so, after the present job I'm on ends in May, I'm going to take a couple of years off. Edited January 15, 201610 yr by KarenBravo
