Khmer Times/Chea Vannak

A Chinese national was arrested on Tuesday after using counterfeit US dollars to buy an iPhone in Siem Reap Town.

Hong Bunhao, deputy police chief of of Siem Reap, said yesterday that the suspect, Liu Chang Jian, 45, was arrested on Tuesday in Svay Dongkom commune’s Mondol Two village after the owner of a phone shop reported to police that counterfeit money had been used in his shop near the Koh Ke traffic intersection.

The suspect, a tourist, tried to pay $895 for an iPhone 6, but the shop owner, who suspected he was using counterfeit money, refused to accept it.

After the arrest, police escorted Mr. Bunhao to a hotel room he was renting, where 101 sheets of $100-US banknotes were found, Mr. Bunhong said. The suspect said he had brought the counterfeit money from China but did not use any of it during his days in Cambodia.

Not very good Chinese counterfeiting is it...when you can't even pull it off in a third country.

Next time, bring in those eggs...

Chink in the clink.

He tried to buy his way out of it using the same notes.

He was successful.
