Crime Security Guard Fatally Stabs Older Colleague After Drunken Dispute
Picture courtesy of Khaosod. A 22-year-old security guard has been arrested after fatally stabbing a co-worker during a heated argument at a security booth in front of a residential housing estate in Bang Bua Thong District, Nonthaburi Province. The incident occurred around 20:00 on 4 July 2025. Police Lieutenant Veerachai Mongkolthai, deputy investigator at Bang Bua Thong Police Station, received reports of a fatal stabbing and responded to the scene with a forensic team, rescue personnel, and senior officers including Police Colonel Prut Jamrunchart, the district police superintendent. At the scene, officers found the body of Mr. Chalermkiat 52, a long-serving security guard, inside the guard booth. He had sustained a single stab wound beneath his left ribcage, inflicted with a sharp object. The suspect, identified as Mr. Manit, 22 a fellow security guard on the same shift, remained at the scene and surrendered to police. He admitted to the killing and directed officers to where he had thrown the folding knife over the housing estate wall. According to Manit’s statement, the dispute began when Mr. Chalermkiat arrived late for duty and appeared to be intoxicated. Manit, who had arrived earlier, confronted him about both issues. The argument escalated into a physical altercation, during which Manit pulled out a folding knife he had on his person and stabbed the older man. He claimed to have chased him from the booth, stabbed him on the street, and then dragged him back into the booth before calling police himself to report the incident. Manit’s 50-year-old mother spoke to reporters, expressing her shock and heartbreak. “He called us to come to the guardhouse, saying he stabbed someone but didn’t know if they were alive. He didn’t explain why,” she said. “He’s always been a good son. Never had problems with anyone. He told me his job was going well. I never imagined he’d do something like this. He must have been pushed to his limit.” Police Colonel Prut confirmed that the suspect has been charged with homicide and has been taken into custody for prosecution. Accident Drowsy Driver Crashes Pickup into Lamp Posts & Ditch in Nakhon Ratchasima – 4 Injured
Picture courtesy of Khaosod. Four people were injured in a road crash in Phimai District after a pickup truck driver reportedly fell asleep at the wheel, losing control of the vehicle and crashing into multiple lamp posts before plunging into a roadside ditch. The incident occurred at approximately 15:20 on 4 July, along the Phimai–Hin Dat Road in Nai Mueang Subdistrict, Nakhon Ratchasima. Police officers from Phimai Police Station and local rescue units were dispatched to the scene following emergency reports of a vehicle collision with serious injuries. At the scene, responders found an Isuzu pickup truck in a damaged condition. The vehicle had first collided with a central reservation street lamp, snapping it in half, before skidding across the road and striking another street lamp on the roadside. The force of the impact caused the vehicle to plunge into a nearby drainage ditch. Inside the wreckage were four injured occupants: the male driver and three female passengers. Emergency personnel worked quickly to extract the victims and provide initial medical assistance before transporting them to Phimai Hospital for further treatment. Preliminary investigations revealed that the group had been travelling from Nong Hong District in Buriram Province en route to their workplace in Chaiyaphum Province. During the journey, the driver reportedly dozed off behind the wheel. Passengers noticed and attempted to wake him, but were too late to prevent the crash. Though the crash left the vehicle and government property damaged, no fatalities were reported. Authorities have launched a formal investigation into the incident. The driver may face charges for reckless driving and will be held responsible for the cost of public infrastructure repairs. Adapted by Asean Now from Khaosod 2025-07-06
