webfact
CDC confirms no outside PM unless political parties nominate oneBANGKOK, 18 January 2015 (NNT) - The Constitution Drafting Commission has issued an assurance that there will be no provision for an indirectly-elected prime minister under the new charter, unless one of the political parties nominates one.CDC spokesman Udom Ratamarit said that the charter drafters will start conducting meetings with people across the country after the first version of the new draft charter is ready for public disclosure on January 29.Mr. Udom said that the CDC will also be listening to all suggestions and even differing opinions of the people during the many trips which moderators will be invited to undertake to help communicate with the public for maximum understanding.Regarding criticism related to the CDC’s inclusion in the draft charter of a condition that allows political parties to nominate three prime ministerial candidates, the CDC spokesman said will be an open invitation for those who do not win an election to become the government’s leader.-- NNT 2016-01-
Srikcir
Everytime Meechai clarifies planned constitution proviions, it just keeps getting murkier. Thailand's next constitution will need a roadmap of equal length just to understand all the nuances and twists of its provisions. But maybe that's intentional. Then only the junta originated constitutional court can interpret and apply the provisions. Mere mortals like the Thai electorate will not understand constitutional "Thainess." Eric Loh
Meechai is trying his level best to sneak in the outside pm in the charter. I am sure the Dem Party and Suthep will love that clause.
outsider
Ah... I see. I thought CDC meant 'Centre for Disease Control' and was wondering what it had to do with politics...
Reigntax
And Prayut's request to both sides. Please, please, Elect me your PM. I dont want the job but if you insist. Ok, if you dont appoint me the section 44 stick remains!
Your Thainess
It doesn't matter what the next constitution says. The military will seize power again whenever it feels like it. What an absolutely pathetic military Thailand has. Doesn't know its proper role in society, sucks at protecting the country, poor moral and ethical example in every conceivable way, wastes massive amounts of money, corrupt to the bone, led by imbeciles with no self control, tact or education. Jeez.
