NRSA deliberates mass communication reform agenda

BANGKOK, 18 January 2016 (NNT) - The National Reform Steering Assembly (NRSA) has deliberated on the proposal to downsize the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC).

The proposal seeks to amend the 2010 Act on Organization to Assign Radio Frequency and to Regulate the Broadcasting and Telecommunications Services. Major amendments consist of downsizing the NBTC to a single committee of seven members and amending their required qualifications, abolishing the Communications Authority of Thailand (CAT) and the National Telecommunications Commission of NBTC, downsizing the NBTC selection committee, and allowing for more scrutiny by the Office of the Auditor General.

The NRSA also heard a report by its whip, detailing the Prime Minister’s wishes to consolidate the efforts by the assembly, the government and the Constitution Drafting Commission in visiting and educating the public on democracy.

"Mass communication reform agenda" is a bit of a mouthful isn't it. Why not just call it "media control"?
