January 20, 201610 yr I bought my bike in Jan 2011. I've always had my dealership take care of the annual tax and insurance. But now it is 5 years old, I've heard that the DLT need to see it before issuing the next year's tax. Is it true? It would be a pain because they're only open during working hours. Thanks
January 20, 201610 yr Look for a repair shop with a sign saying they do it. It's a yellow cogwheel in a blue circle with the Thai letters ต ร อ in it. (dtor ror or) They will do a test for you. http://www.donslifeinthailand.com/Auto_Inspection.html
January 20, 201610 yr My concern would be why the dealer that you have been so loyal to I've always had my dealership take care of the annual tax and insurance. couldn't give you that information and you have to depend upon an Internet forum and the knowledge and help from member Jai Maai

January 20, 201610 yr You don't need to take it to the DLT you just need to get a "road worthiness certificate" ( 60 baht in Pattaya region ) from one of the many independent places displaying this sign they will normally offer to do the whole tax insurance process too for a small fee but its usually not very fast.
January 20, 201610 yr get the test done and take certificate back to your dealer, or get the test centre to do it all, i also believe 7/11 can do the taxing/insurance part but not the testing part.

I am not concerned and could care less, you should be concerned that the dealer you are putting your faith in cannot help you with a problem that people here on TV can
January 20, 201610 yr Author I haven't contacted the dealer about it. Much easier to ask on an internet forum while logged in and sitting at my desk. Let's hope that all aspects of life don't confuse you so much.
January 20, 201610 yr Did mine last week, Condo. Test is as thorough as a Thai health test. Took minutes and they didn't even start the bike. Also organized insurance there, then next door to the DLT for a 110b road tax sticker. All in all, probably took 60-70 minutes. Edited January 20, 201610 yr by DILLIGAD
January 20, 201610 yr I had the same last year. Asked a Thai friend about it and she just said, give me the greenbook and old papers and no problem. She was correct, job done for 100 baht extra than usual.

I doubt he is actually 'concerned'.

January 20, 201610 yr The insurance place that I use has the sign that has been posted. They take care of everything, the inspection, the road tax and insurance. I have to go back after 2 days to pick up the road tax. I think their fees for the inspection and getting the road tax total something like 140 Baht.
January 21, 201610 yr My regular dealerdid my re-registration and also the testing. They were not interestedinanything other than marching of the engine/chassis numbers as far as I could see when I watched them. bike not started, no checking of lights, suspension etc
January 21, 201610 yr I had mine done today, they would not renew the permit for next year without it. I live in Kalasin, it cost me 60 Baht. Maybe bring proof of insurance for tax renewal.
