single entry tourist visa / enter before date

Featured Replies

just obtained a single entry tourist visa,

date of issue 13 jan 2016

enter before 12 apr 2016

i will fly into thailand on the 22nd of jan, activate the 60 days, which will take me until around the 22nd of march

if i obtain a 30 day extension will that take me up until around the 22nd of april or will i have to leave before the 12th of april?

thanks

You will not have to leave !

The visa provides entry to the country and once used it is finished !

Your length of stay is determined on entry and by any legal extension.

If you extend your stay by 30 days you will have to leave at the end of the extension period.

Date as said is a use for entry date - you receive you permitted to stay date on arrival or extension at immigration.

Right. Visas are used for entry only. Once your visa is used, the operative date becomes the "permitted to stay until" date because the visa is "dead" once it has been used.

thanks for the help, i got confused thinking it was similar to the enter before date on the old double entry, where you would enter for 60 days get a thirty dau extension but sometimes only got to use 25days as you had to enter before a certain date to start the second entry
