Immigration Bureau to tighten screening measures in face of terrorism in various countries
NNT News

BANGKOK, 20 January 2016 (NNT) -- Immigration Bureau Commissioner Pol Lt Gen Natthorn Prausoontorn reconfirmed that he will tighten up inspection and screening measures for those who may enter and leave Thailand for fears of possibly being connected with terrorism.

The reassured measures have apparently followed terrorist attacks and bombings in several other countries. Following such bombings or attacks, the Immigration Bureau immediately sought information on the suspects from the authorities in the affected country such as Turkey and Indonesia. None of the suspected terrorists have been found to have entered Thailand.

The Immigration Bureau commissioner reiterated that foreigners who might possibly overstay their visas in Thailand have long caused a lot of problems for the country as they may only be subject to a fine. However, he believed that after a new law governing immigration issues has been effective on March 20, crimes will be reduced as the legal punishments will result in both imprisonment and fine as well as being blacklisted.

Huge difference between potential terrorists and people who over stay visa ,

people who change and get radicalised are already here,

then how do you find such people who on traveling to another country and have no prior records or have been in no sweep by security organizations phone taps and other such information gathering systems how do you then pin point them as risk factors ,

case in point the recent husband and wife team who went on the rampage before both being shot themselves. who prior to their rampage lived a quiet existence, and held jobs and borrowed 25k before they both burst their bubbles and erupted into grotesque killers.

Royal Thai Police strictly inspecting foreigners traveling through the Thailand

BANGKOK, 21 January 2016 (NNT) - The Royal Thai Police are strictly inspecting foreigners traveling through Thailand to prevent the presence of unlawful individuals, while confirming that there is no sign of ISIS members operating in Thailand.

Pol Lt Gen Nathathorn Prousoontorn disclosed his order to strengthen the screening process of foreign personal to prevent the country from being used as a transit point for those involved in terrorism and transnational crime. He has also called for increased diligence in checking the passports of foreigners. At the moment, there is no evidence of terrorists traveling through the country.

Pol Lt Gen Nathathorn acknowledged that the prevention of illegal immigration is difficult, as the country is connected to four neighboring countries. The Royal Thai Police have therefore implemented broad measures to prevent illegal activities.

As for those overstaying their visas, he revealed that most were from China, India and from African countries. The authorities have increased penalties where an arrested individual is found to have overstayed by more than 90 days, and they will now be banned from entering the country for one year.

Specialist passport checkers, tightening up etc so is he saying that up to now immigration officers haven't been qualified to do the job and haven't been doing it properly ?

I always hated being white, and spend many hours in the sun and solarium to get a dark tan.

Finally it seems that there is something positive in being white - no hassle at immigration.

I can sleep soundly at night knowing the BIB are on the case.

Specialist passport checkers, tightening up etc so is he saying that up to now immigration officers haven't been qualified to do the job and haven't been doing it properly ?

Or perhaps that their systems don't compare arrivals with lists of suspects or criminals ? blink.png

I feel sure TAT will be along soon to say this is all a big mistake because there never has been, isn't and never will be terrorism in LOS.

From past performance, do not expect much! At the borders money changed hand. End of story.

The important thing to remember is:

try to choose a line to stand in which has no arab-looking, middle-eastern looking, or Turkish-looking young men in it.

Specialist passport checkers, tightening up etc so is he saying that up to now immigration officers haven't been qualified to do the job and haven't been doing it properly ?

It is just a Thai style crackdown... some guy with lots of medals announces that the staff have been ordered to do what they are already paid to do for a while until they get tired/bored. After all the Immigration is part of the police...

and all people who hear this will feel so much safer and happier that the police are doing their job..
