World University Sports Championships to be held in Thailand next year

The government is ready to help organize the World University Sports Championships, in which Thailand will be the host of this event next year.

Government Spokesman Yongyuth Maiyalarp said the Cabinet has agreed with the Ministry of Education’s proposal to upgrade the World University Sports’ organizers in terms of their functions and authorities.

The Cabinet has also agreed to establish the Office of Sport Administration under the Commission on Higher Education. This office will be responsible in administrating and organizing sport events.

The budget for organizing the World University Sports Championships next year is derived from the Commission on Higher Education, and the budget is no more than 1,465,320,000 baht. It will be used to improve the sport stadiums and other sport-related expenditures.
