Help need opening Thai Bank account.

Featured Replies

I am a singaporean currently on a 30 days visa

I am planning to get married to my Thai gf soon.

I would like to open a bank account in thailand as that would be easier for me

for future uses and for visa approval uses as well.

I have read that Bangkok Bank is the easiest for foreigners

without work permit.

Is that true? which are the branches that makes it easy?

the Bangkok Bank Branch closest to me is Mega Bangna. Can I go there?

What other documents should I have that would help me?

proof of residence? I live in a condo with my GF

Thanks for any help and advice in advance.

you may find that some branches of Thai Banks refuse your application, and then some others will. Just try banks near your localitiy . . . and you will eventually settle with one of them

It might be helpful if you have a residence registration. In Pattaya, you should be able to get one on a tourist visa. In Bangkok, this might not be possible . .

it means a bit of walkaround

you can obtain a registration certificate at the local immigration office

Officially Bangkok Bank requires at least a tourist visa. While I've heard of people getting a bank account on 30 days, you might end up having to try a lot of branches until you find one willing to open your account. Unless you want to leave the country to get a new visa, your only option is to try branch after branch to see which one gives you one.

Take your girlfriend to the bank to vouch for you. She doesn't have to be named on the account. Use her address and phone number. I did this at Kasikorn bank. I am sure many others will work also.
