January 27, 201610 yr Does the Thai paypal account allow you to hold your USD or the amount recieved in USD in the account? Are we allowed to spend the same in the account without using the money from credit card? I am asking this because my country doesn't allow to do so and I want to move to Thailand soon and will open a Thai paypal that way I can save a lot of exchange rate otherwise I have to pay from my credit card which charges me a good amount of exchange rate
January 27, 201610 yr Not sure what you are asking, But we have a Ebay / Paypal account based in Thailand We can transfer out of the Paypal account to the Thai bank it is linked too , We can also buy things on Ebay from the Thai account sent to Thailand , or another USA account sent to the USA But there have been times when I tried to use the Thai Paypal account to pay for an item in the USA that accepted Paypal and it was rejected since they only accept "USA" paypal accounts , And in the USA , if you have a USA based Ebay account you can get an Ebay/paypal debit card ( Thai accounts cannot) that uses the balance Anyway , I hope this helped !
January 27, 201610 yr Long story short, it's all in baht. Mine isn't. Manage CurrenciesWhen you add a new currency, any future payments you receive in that currency will be credited to that balance. Your primary currency is the default currency for sending and requesting payments. "I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"
January 28, 201610 yr I'd think Bitcoin and other digitals would work great for this. the bitcoins would only need to be held for the actual transmission, not long enough to be affected at all by any kind of bitcoin price volatility. I'm also still very fascinated, on this subject, why Thai retail banks.... such as Bangkok Bank prominently display exchange reates for the AEC... with 50% exchange fees. i.e. Peso. ooopps.... I just realized I didn't have my Thai thinking cap on. the reason they prominently display absolutely ridiculous exchange rates for the Phillipine Peso and some others is that it looks very Impressive to have lots of currencies listed. and that is VERY important. and no one, I guess only me, will question who or what would pay a 50% fee, I forget if that is 50% round trip or one way... I won't even bother checking again but you can do the math while waiting for a queue to open. Edited January 28, 201610 yr by maewang99
January 28, 201610 yr Author I think I wasn't clear enough in my OP. Let me rephrase Can Paypal fund be used to buy goods and services? In my country we cant. Suppose we buy something or send someone money, Paypal uses the money from the credit card rather instead of using Paypal funds. Hope i am clear enough
January 28, 201610 yr In my country we cant. Suppose we buy something or send someone money, Paypal uses the money from the credit card rather instead of using Paypal funds. Hope i am clear enough Yes, it will use the PayPal funds first and top up from the bank account of credit card if necessary. I've never actually changed anything but I assume you can adjust the priorities. I thought that was the way it worked everywhere. "I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"
January 29, 201610 yr Long story short, it's all in baht. Nope. Mine is in US dollars. It is converted to THB when I do a Withdrawal to mt Bangkok Bank account. Exchange rates arent very good though

I think the problem in Thailand will be finding shops that have a paypal account so you can pay for something . Most people never heard of it , and do not want to go thru the hassle of getting one....
