BANGKOK, 28 January 2016 (NNT) – A deal has been made between the public, private and civil sectors to collaboratively promote Thai tourism by encouraging the holding of meetings and incentive travels in the country.

Minister of Tourism and Sports Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul was joined by representatives of 21 private and civil organizations at the signing of a memorandum of cooperation on a campaign to stimulate the meeting and incentive sector. The collaboration, aimed at boosting tourism and distributing income to residents nationwide, is expected to bear fruit in the next six months.

Under the agreement, the private sector will support over 700 companies in organizing meetings or seminars in the provinces at least once by the middle of this year. The Tourism and Sports Ministry and the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau, on behalf of the public sector, will be in charge of policy implementation while the Tourism Authority of Thailand will provide informational support in terms of travel destinations and routes.

Meanwhile, the civil sector is poised to develop communities and ready them for the arrival of more tourists. Each community will also promote signature dishes and fruits and beautify important places to attract visitors.

The Minister said "Luk Thep's" are most welcome to represent the public sector.

Wow..

If Thailand is truly serious about attracting more tourist, bringing out the fruit is only seasonal and doesn't tackle the big fish. Investment.

Now that global corporations see how Thailand manages its own affairs by lack of assurances in events of disasters.

1. Flooding

2. Drought

3. Isaan recession

4. Judical process

5. Farang tax

6. Wide spread and rampant corruption

7. Airline standards

8. Total blindness to protect their GNP. ie. Rice and Rubber

Pretty much, the country's infastructure.

Guess what? Chinese isn't going to make a difference to the bottom line.

Now that we are on the windward side of Peak season, OMG! What do we do now? is sinking in.

How are we going to fund everything if we keep stealing everything and from everybody. And letting all the high end corrupt officials get away with the money.

My suggestion, Give farangs equality. Give us equal rights so change can truly come from within.

Cause, we, us won't take any s$it.

Perhaps all the Luk Theps could rent a hall, and have a social get-together, then not-eat fruit afterwards ! rolleyes.gif

They've been trying to increase the MICE sector for ever, or so it seems. Every year we hear the same mantra. It's a great money spinner.

Hong Kong and Singapore really do have the market sewn up in Asia with much better infrastructure and facilities than anywhere in Thailand. There are plenty of hotels and even convention centres with the right facilities but are there too many external factors which cause organisers to choose elsewhere? Probably.

There are more of these stories about boosting tourism. That sector must be pretty grim.

I bet they already plan 20 roadshows covering countries between Morocco and Oman. I heard there are a lot of people willing to travel...
