Jackpot price of special lottery to remain: Pridiyathorn

BANGKOK: -- Finance Minister Pridiyathorn Devakula said the Finance Ministry will maintain the two- and three-digit lotttery and its jackpot prize.

Speaking to reporters after a consultation with the permanent secretary for Finance, Suparat Kawakkul, Pridiyathorn said the Finance Ministry feared that the abolition of the special lottery and its jackpot prize would cause underground lottery to mushroom again.

Pridiyathorn said the proceeds from the sale of government lottery would be sent to the Finance Ministry to be counted as part of the national budget instead of being allowed to be used as will by the government and the Government Lottery Office like what happened during the term of the previous government.
