KhunBENQ
I only noticed that there is something going on, discussed in this lengthy thread: http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/885184-gmm-z-pay-tv-package-termination-service-ending-message/ I didn't follow it and can't tell you details. lopburi3
They closed for new subscriptions last month and cease service this Saturday. CTH now offers there service but only with CTH box and using Ku band frequency. Believe most interested in foreign channels use internet these days - but for DTH service TRUE and CTH are the normal options now - some can get Malaysia or other service but for most not cost effective and would not have local stations. KhunBENQ
CTH now offers there service but only with CTH box and using Ku band frequency. And as far as I learned when following/responding in another thread the satellite dish has to be re-positioned. CTH uses a Vietnamese satellite on a different position as Thaicom used by GMMz Ku band frequency: just to explain, thats the small (approx 80 cm) dish. Most if not all foreigner will be on that. Those with the big mesh dishes (C-band, 1.20m and up) are lost. Maybe someone can confirm? (I am not up-to-date as I am completely served via internet). The free-to-air service from GMMz seems unaffected. Otherwise my Thai family would have noticed I guess. lopburi3
GMM pay stations are still on the air until Saturday - but yes the free channels should remain available AFAIK (at some point in future they may stop OTA programming of box but expect that will not be anytime soon as too many upset viewers if that were to happen). Don't know what bird the new Ku will be from but being different would explain a previous post that current antenna could not be used. Do not see any listing for CTH having transponders on Thaicom 5 or 6 birds.
