Bkk To China? Tour In English?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I know this isn't a Thailand travel question; so let me apologize in advance.

Does anyone here know of any companies offering tours of China originating from BKK in English? I'm going to be in BKK in April/May for a month; I'm interesting in going to China to check out the great wall, the forbidden city, etc.

Thanks,

Sean

Hi Sean,

Great idea; I don't know if you've ever been to China but in my view you don't need an organized tour from BKK to China, Beijing in this case.

You can get all the assistance and help in Beijing itself.

If you wish to go to the Great Wall (a MUST!) ask your hotel to organize a private car/taxi for you and go to:

Mu Tia Yu a special very beautiful section of the Great Wall; unbelievable impressive and spectacular.

It's about 2 hours by car from downtown Beijing. The car will wait for you. Make sure you carry enough batteries for your camera :o

The Forbidden City is also a MUST. Unfortunately they are reconstructing 3 major buildings inside (to be ready for the Olympics 2008) but there's plenty left to see; it's enormous and HUGE (about 1,000 x 900 meters !) and you need to take some sandwiches with you (apart from the camera); you can buy water everywhere.

At the admission gates they rent out special electronic recorders/earphones in many languages which adapt to the location where you are and explain about/what/where/how many things which happened in the Forbidden City.

There's so much more to see in Beijing but most of it can be 'Googled'

Good Luck.

ps: I visited bot of the above just recently.

I'll agree with the previous poster. If you want a tour, it's much better to find one while you're in China. There are dozens of companies, and you can pretty much personalize the tour to fit what you want to see. Too, there are US-based companies organizing tours to China, and they will allow you to join them while in China. Google is you friend.
