How Stable are Oilfield Jobs?

Here are the results of a recent survey:-

97% of the survey respondents were oilfield people.

35% were still working, the other 65% had lost their jobs.

Of the people working: 75% were staff and 25% consultants.

46% had their benefits stopped and included: 401k matching, wages, overtime, bonus, insurance. Only 30% were confident they would have a job next month, with 63% having 50-50 confidence theyll be working and 8% think theyll lose their job.

Of the people that were out of work: 56% were staff and 44% consultants.

40% lost their jobs from service companies, followed by 33% from operating companies.

Surprisingly only 7% were from rig contractors.

20% were from other types of companies. 20% were confident they would get an oilfield job this year, compared to 45% thinking its a 50-50 chance theyll be working and 36% are quite sure they will not be working in the oilfield sector this year.

From all the respondents, 54% think oil will drop to $25 / barrel this year.
