If anyone else has some good recommendations please add them We have Thai fishing Parks and Farang Fishing Parks The thai fishing parks seem to stock mainly stripped catfish and the farang parks stock a variety. Saman fishing Park (Thai owned), It is stocked with mainly stripped catfish, good fun but very easy to catch, I saw fish upto about 12kg. It is so easy that after 3 hours I was bored because it did not pose a challenge. Lots of rubbish everywhere. conclusion good fun for maximum 3 hours. Luckana fishing park (Farang owned) , It does not have too many fish but what it has is BIG fish and great for a days fishing if you are an experienced fisherman, it has a variety of thai fish including Thai redtails, Mekong catfish, Siamese carp, a good days fishing. Nong bua Lamhu Fishing Park (farang owned), It is just like a piece of the English countryside, manicured grass and fishing salas for shade. It has a good stock of fish species, Siamese carp, amazon redtail catfish, Mekong catfish and others. I caught fish upto 14kg. It is good for the experienced angler and you are guaranteed to catch. It also has a second lake that is great for float fishing stocked with mainly fish upto 2kg but a few bigger ones. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Why not just put hooks in the mouths of fish attached to a line and just give them a nice sadistic tug every few days? Hunting for food is ok with me, I also slaughter occasionally. Sattphalat Posted February 18, 2016 Share Posted February 18, 2016 Hi The headline on this topic is "fishing in Isaan" I visit Isan as a tourist regularly , and have been on small trips fishing with friends (Thai) But I like to go by my own when fishing. My question is: What is the rule or regulation for fishing in the wild in Thailand. Can a tourist go fishing in the wild on his own. Is it allow. And if so, do I need some sort of permission or license from government or landowner. I have never tried "catch and release " it does not appeal to me. Unless maybe for training in angling methods . I see that fishing is popular among Thais. And in the city I visit regularly it is a nice shop with all sort of ecwipment for angling. Isan has a lot of lakes and rivers width fish, pity not to use them. Fishing and outdoor living is one of my main interest in my home country . And a fun sport. Some places in the big streams there are places where they feed. Lots and lots of fish coming in eating , probably some sort of carp. I have tried fishing the rivers but the Thais have netted most of the fish. KissMyAxe Posted January 31, 2017 Share Posted January 31, 2017 Just to let any anglers know that are visiting Isaan Udon Thani there is now a new fishing facility at Lek's Fishing Park Udon Thani it is not a commercial lake where you can just walk in and pay though, bookings need to be made in advance as it is a private water and you rent the lake out to yourself, friends or family. It is also very conveniently situated only 3km from Udon airport... the mixed specimen coarse lake boasts over 40 different fish species ranging from huge 80kg + Mekong Catfish & 40kg + Siamese Carp, to vicious predators such as the Arapaima, Alligator Gar, Chao Phraya Catfish, Amazon Redtail and many more. here are a few pictures of catches from their facebook page: Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Khon Kaen Dave Posted April 6, 2017 Share Posted April 6, 2017 About 20 kliks from where we live( near Khon Kaen) is a huge dam,the name escapes me,but it is a real feat of engineering. The park also has a golf course and two hotels.some one might know of which i speak. We went there this week to have a look, very impressed.There is a small floating stage, that puts you in the Lake thare that has been formed by the Dam. People feed the fish there. I am not sure if you can fish there, but i spotted a motor cruiser that looked like it was for seeing the lake or fishing. Also people can row there. The fish around the float were pretty big, and i imagine that, in deeper waters, they would be pretty big. I would like to know if you can fish there. we are going to spend a couple of days at a resort near there, so maybe i will ask about the possibilities.
