Some people like Win10, and some people (like me) do not like it at all. Nothing to do with how the OS works technically, but how it operates and the terms of using it. Yes the actual tests are biased and in error - but Win10 itself is not liked by many people for many non-technical issues. Beware Microsoft bearing free gifts !!

These issues from the article are not in dispute, and there are many more that make Win10 unpopular:

Back in November Microsoft confirmed Windows 10’s worst kept secret: its extensive telemetry (or ‘spying’ as it has been labelled) cannot be stopped. Firstly the Windows 10 EULA (end user licence agreement) which very few users ever read, gives Microsoft full legal rights to do this. Secondly Microsoft has made several attempts to stress that the telemetry and data tracking aspects to Windows 10 are essential to its ongoing maintenance and improvement.

Microsoft Corporate Vice President Joe Belfiore: “We’re going to continue to listen to what the broad public says about these decisions, and ultimately our goal is to balance the right thing happening for the most people – really, for everyone – with the complexity that comes with putting in a whole lot of control.”

My vote to Win10 is "N.O." and no matter how many times they try to hide the "free" upgrade inside Win7 updates, I will not accept.

YES - I did 'upgrade' last year - 2 weeks later I had enough and tried to revert - and that is another story.

There is no such thing as a free lunch !!

Free for the first year is not free. People will need to buy it later on. It's a smart business move. If you're so worried about your privacy you'd better bin your smartphone and delete all your google accounts. Oh and that Facebook thing...

Not really news. You have to be pretty naive to think they're not spying when privacy controles are on maximum. Win10 is only free for the upgraders. If you buy a new computer , you pay just like before.

Seeing as you can buy Win 10 for only 800baht it's not a huge expense.

Is that for a Thai only version?

Regarding privacy I'm not too concerned about spying as long as it doesn't encroach on third party browsers like Firefox. Google does enough of that already.

And yes nothing is free. This is nothing more than a slight upgrade to Win 7, and part of MS's plan to increase the world's dependence on them. They already have the business world in their grasp with Office. You can be sure the next "upgrade" won't be free. By then hopefully I'll have migrated mostly to Linux.

Only to your privacy!
I'm not running a government, doing anything particularly important nor illegal so have nothing to hide.

I hope the snoops at MS are enjoying my Black Pipe Layers collection.

It's not just microsoft, it has the potential to let hackers in.

As does any OS.

With good security it's minimal, but opening doors for them makes it easier, som nam na.

Not more than any other part of the operating system. There are no open ports or incoming connections, it makes outgoing connections in the same way as your browser does.

I've upgraded my 3 computers to 10 without incident. It works perfectly and I don't care about the non-technical issues.

There really isn't an alternative. It's far better than Windows 8, Windows 7 was fine. 10 is better.

One thing that did piss me off though was my old Office program would no longer work. It was a dodgy copy but still...

Rather than give Microsoft a nickel more I went to WPS Office which has everything I need and is free.

I still hate Microsoft because of all their BS over the years, but 10 is faultless. Only took 20 years to get Windows working as well as Apple OS.

I must admit I am getting rather pished off with Microsoft constantly yammering to my management about how good their bloody Cloud is.
