Politics Anutin Dismisses Cabinet Reshuffle Speculation Amid Interior Ministry Rumours
File photo for reference only Anutin Charnvirakul has dismissed speculation about a potential cabinet reshuffle that could see him lose his interior minister portfolio. This comes amid reports suggesting that Digital Economy and Society Minister Prasert Jantararuangtong might replace him. Anutin stated that there have been no discussions with Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra or her influential father, Thaksin, about any ministerial changes. Addressing questions about conflicting signals from the Shinawatra family regarding his position, Anutin reaffirmed that the prime minister alone holds the authority to make decisions on cabinet appointments. "In a government, the prime minister is the leader. We follow her direction. I've never been confused about that," said Anutin, dismissing any notion of divided authority between Paetongtarn and Thaksin. Speculation about Anutin's position and the potential removal of the Bhumjaithai Party from the coalition grew after Thaksin suggested that the Interior Ministry should be under Pheu Thai's control. Despite these rumours, Anutin emphasized the smooth cooperation across ministries under both former Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin and the current leadership of Paetongtarn. Asked about any possible negotiations with coalition parties or the stipulations Bhumjaithai might propose if Pheu Thai seeks the Interior Ministry, Anutin declined to comment. He maintained that all parties have been working harmoniously to support the prime minister’s policies. Prime Minister Paetongtarn addressed the rumours, stating that no changes have been made as of now. She assured that if any reshuffle involving Pheu Thai ministers were required, she would manage the discussions herself, reinforcing her leadership in the current administration.
