February 16, 201610 yr Departed Ubon this morning at 04.30 am heading to Savannakhet. Very seldom you observe the BIB pulling in vehicles before daylight, they never hinted what they were looking for. Have used this route many times and usually have to part with 200 Baht for being informed I was speeding. Today I was stopped at 3 police check points and at one they wanted to look in the back seat and rear storage area. No driving licence was asked for only wanted to know whare I started my trip and why I was going to Laos.
February 16, 201610 yr Being stopped in the dark on a route to/from Laos? Well not that surprising. All potential smuggling/drug trafficking routes. To and from Nong Khai there are frequent checkpoints. Was traffic stopped in the other direction too? (from Laos even more likely that they were looking for drugs)
