Don Mega
Just had a call from a work colleague to tell me heading into Pattaya from Laem Chabang just past the 36 they have the road blocked and are checking all drivers paperwork. Also asking farangs for passports.
Asiantravel
" Also asking farangs for passports." it will be interesting to hear how many farangs who were not carrying their passports in the car have been hauled off to the police station(bearing in mind the Thai drivers license shows the passport number anyway)

Cynical Sailor
A checkpoint was also set up at the Dolphin roundabout on 2nd Rd this afternoon. I moved to the outside lane so wasn't pulled over. [emoji106]
ferguston
If you were Thai you would be asked to show your ID card. Non-Thais are no different. You should carry your ID with you at all times. Carrying your passport or alternative ID is not a hassle.

But wouldn't it be better, if they did some real Highway police work, instead of money collection. days. what are they caring about, road safety or easy money ? That's a hard one to answer.
