OAG gives a clean bill of health to Ratchapakdi park project

BANGKOK: -- The Office of the Auditor-General has cleared the Ratchapakdi park project of any corruption, Deputy Defence Minister General Udomdej Seetabutr said on Monday.

General Udomdej who is also chairman of the Ratchapakdi Foundation said that besides the latest finding from the OAG, the investigations by the Army and the Defence Ministry did not find any wrongdoings in connection with the construction of the park project in Hua Hin.

However, he disclosed that is a few minor points that the Government Sector’s Anti-Corruption Committee would like to investigate further. Personally, he said the project was above board and it could now proceed.

Only the first stage of the project which involved the giant statues of the former kings and the lawn for the staging of ceremonies was completed, said General Udomdej, adding that there remains the learning centre of the history and biographies of the former great kings which is yet to be built.

He assured that every step of the construction would be transparent and in accordance with rules and regulations.

The deputy defence minister hopes the Ratchapakdi park would serve as the central point for the unity and security of the nation. More importantly, he said the venue should remind Thais of the monarchical institution.

Well that's alright, then.

As clean as a whistle. What good news!

Yes of course that is the decision...whistling.gif

My understanding is that this proves nothing. An auditor generally can only follow the "official" money trails. One of the original corruption claims here was that the people involved were soliciting under-the-table payments from the contractors,. These would not show up in an audit. They would surface in a thorough police investigation of the bank accounts and other affairs of the people involved, but one would expect that any witnesses and honest police (if there are any) would value their lives too much to proceed further..

There was a small article clearing the 'Amulet' trader of wrong doing in the BKK Post and other papers last week. In fact it seemed the investigating officers were practically falling over each other to praise him.

He was paid 20 million baht for his fees, and eventually out of the goodness of his heart decided he wanted to donate it to the Park.......

If anyone believes any of this, I have some lovely land available to sell....

I am friends with the contractor that built the 2km long external wall fronting on to the main highway, there was no wrongdoing involved but because of all this he is still waiting to be paid 6 months after completion.

As clean as a whistle. What good news!

The decision came as a big surprise though, didn't it ? whistling.gifgigglem.gif

Does that mean that Col Khachachart Boondee who was tasked by Gen Udomdej with retrieving the commissions from the amulet trader escaped to Mynmar in vain and all for nothing?

Maybe I could handle it if it includes computer classes ! ?

I'm sure, it will do all that.

I hope it will also serve as a reminder to all Thais that the army is exempt from laws, scrutiny and criticism, simply because of their high moral standards and ethics.

park would serve as the central point for the unity and security of the nation

That would be the nation of the Royal Thai Military whose sovereignty outweighs the sovereignty of the Thai people.

So what happened to all the money ?

Something is wrong ? or not ?
