ubonjoe
There is no requirement to have a work permit unless you are using the income from working to meet the 40k baht income requirement. Were they aware you are working? If yes I suspect that is the reason they asked for it.

The officer is the same officer as last year and a very nice woman who speak very good english and always are nice.. I know people here do not want to hear about good police officers, but they do exist (P.s Officers in the immigration is actually police officers)

manfredtillmann
sorry, mate, can you please explain that to me again... you went for an extension based on marriage, had the right amount of thb in your account, and they wanted you to produce evidence of your thai income? Pepper9187
Errrr they should not be asking for that. Are you sure they didn't misunderstood and thought that you were earning 40k per month (as per the law if you don't have 400K you must have a 40K monthly income). It would explain why they would be asking you to see your WP. Did you had the letter from the bank ? I would try again and explain them seelowly Edited February 23, 2016 by Pepper9187
Eclipse
I have a mate in Phuket who has a work permit. He applies for Marriage extensions every year. 3 years ago they refused him as he did not show his permit. They now ask him for it every year. thaihome
If the money does not come from overseas would seem a logical request to see work permit. TH

TH Not for an extension based upon marriage and using the 400k baht in the bank option. The wife's income from working or a family business could be used tor the family to live on. Muggi1968
I think they wanted to see where the money come from. When I in 1 month get the stamp.... I will ask them why they ask for WP. And report back here ;-)

And report back here ;-) So your application was accepted despite you not having a WP? You may be correct in that immigration wants to see some movement of funds during the year relating to living expenses and they may also be interested in your source of funds. See UJ's post above.
