Remote switch for bore pump

offset

Recommended Posts

The meter for my bore pump is 120 mtrs for my house and I want to be able to switch it on/off from my house but I need to run the cable underground, I was thinking of using low voltage. Can anybody give me an idea how to do this simply I was thinking about a transformer from my house and a contactor at the meter end to switch on the pump

I think you have it, a contactor with a 12 or 24V coil at the meter end, cheap 2-core cable to a 12 / 24V power supply and a switch at the house.

You could try one of the mains radio remote units intended for remote control of lights etc, how well it would work depends upon what's between you and the meter.

With such a low voltage would the be much loss in voltage over that distance and which would be better 12 or 24 volt could you tell me what transformer and contactor I would need

I think that there is to many trees between the house and the meter I did not think about using one of the remote switches and it might be worth trying one are the expensive

Thank you for your help

You ought to be able to get everything locally, have a word with your local electrical specialists.

Contactor something like this http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/SODIAL-LP1-D09-Contactor-24V-DC-Coil/1996136_32601529923.html

Power supply something like this http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/Switching-Power-Supply-24V-2A-AC-Adapter-for-led-strip/1248101_32300891303.html if you can find an adjustable one you can make up for any cable volt drop.

An ordinary light switch will do the job.

Run 1.5mm2 twin flex, even at 0.5A that's only going to drop about 2V should be no problem for the contactor.

Whether you put the power supply at the meter end run from the pump supply, or at the house end is up to you, there is no difference functionally.

There are multiple radio controlled relais solutions.

Most have very limited reach like 30m, the typical "car garage/front gate" stuff.

There is one site with a specialized shop.

Of course in Thai language only, you would need help if you are not fluent in Thai.

No idea whether you find such products in a shop "round the corner".

This product claims to work for 500 m to 1000 m.

Costs 1500 Baht if I understand right.

And probably a separate 230/12 V transformer/power supply needed (cheap).
