sketcher
It is fairly widely documented that when semding money to Thailand it is better to send in original currency and convert to Baht at Thai receiving bank. Does anyone know which is better sending it out of Thailand. Im sending to UK and not sure if better to send in Baht or GBP? Many Thanks
lkv
Sending GBP is better, because you are buying GBP locally in Thailand through the Thai bank so you are given their Selling TT Rate. Bank spreads in Thailand are way better than bank spreads in Europe. If you theoretically sent THB, your UK bank would convert into GBP and rip you off on the exchange rate But I am not sure UK banks would even accept an incoming telegraphic transfer in THB, it's an exotic currency. So most probably it would not even be technically possible to send THB even if you wanted.
blackcab
Do not send Baht. Nobody really wants it, so they will hammer you with the exchange rate. Send GBP.
