CLW
Have been looking in the meat section of supermarkets in Bangkok but could not find any duck meat. Probably at some fresh/wet market they will sell? I'm craving for roasted duck breast...

wayned
I buy frozen duck breasts at Macro. 4-5 breasts per package. Actually I had one for dinner yesterday.

notmyself
Fresh from the local market for me but have to buy the whole thing which is usually around 160 Baht depending on the size.... 4 joints. Problem is that it doesn't freeze very well and becomes somewhat tough
wayned
A fresh duck from the local market around here would be all bone and skin with the little meat available tough as shoe leather no matter how you cooked it. It would most likely be a "retired" member of the large flocks that are let loose in the rice paddies to eat the leftover rice after harvest and rid the crop of cherry snails when it is growing. No rice paddies on Samui but can get OAP duck for around 50-60 Baht. Generally sold for stock at 10 Baht a piece after which you give it to the dog. wayned
I lived in Samui in the late 1990's, back when the main road through Chaweng was much like a rice Paddy!
