NRSA Whip confirms no agenda on media ethics scheduled for deliberation yet

BANGKOK, 4 March 2016 (NNT) – The National Reform Steering Assembly has no plan to deliberate the issue of media ethics next week, according to the assembly’s Whip.

NRSA Whip spokesman Kamnoon Sidhisamarn said that the Whip meeting has already looked at the proposal from Dr. Pornthip Rojanasunand on the inclusion of an urgent agenda related to problems with media ethics.

Mr. Kamnoon said that all Whip members have agreed that a long-term measure should be introduced to help with the reform of the media.

Accordingly, the NRSA Whip has assigned the committee in charge of the steering of the mass communications reform and the special committee in charge of the steering of anti-corruption reform to conduct a thorough study of the issue before presenting the result to the Whip within 30 days, he said.

Mr. Kamnoon stated that, with this plan in process, the NRSA will not be deliberating the problems of media ethics at next week’s sitting but will look at the reports on the economic reform for the society and on the social reform as well as other issues.
