Thailand-U.S. Joint Committee Meeting on Science and Technology views five areas of cooperation

BANGKOK, 8 March 2016 (NNT) - A Thailand-United States Joint Committee Meeting on Science and Technology was held today in Bangkok to exchange views on five areas of cooperation.


Weerapong Paesuwan, permanent secretary of the Ministry of Science and Technology of Thailand and Judith Garber, acting assistant secretary of the Bureau of Oceans and International Environment and Scientific Affairs, the Department of State of the U.S., co-chaired the Thailand-United States Joint Committee Meeting on Science and Technology under the Agreement Relating to Scientific and Technical Cooperation between the Government of the Kingdom of Thailand and the Government of the United States of America.

Both sides agreed to strengthen cooperation in five areas, namely environment, health, renewable energy, metrology and STEM Education on (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Education) through research, exchange of researchers and seminars.

Weerapong added that Thailand and the U.S. also agreed to establish the Wildlife Health Center at Faculty of Veterinary Science, Mahidol University, to better understand wildlife health for the benefit of not only both countries but also the whole world.
