A new employment study conducted for the Norwegian Oil and Gas Association shows the need for 22,000 new workers to be recruited by 2020, including the replacement of 9,000 retiring workers.

The International Research Institute of Stavanger, which conducted the report, indicates that layoffs in the offshore sector will continue through to 2018. Around 38,000 have been laid off in the Norwegian offshore sector between 2014 and 2016. A further 12,000 jobs are set to be lost by 2018.
