Is it too late to stop the Donald Trump machine?

Republicans don't even know what racism and misogyny is. They just know it sounds right.

I don't agree with this for Republicans in general, but for sure, this current election with the Trump followers we've seen that dumb is "in."

Today, at Rutgers in his commencement speech, here is an interesting part of Obama's speech that addresses this (with crowd reaction as well).

Which brings me to my third point: Facts, evidence, reason, logic, an understanding of science -- these are good things. (Applause.) These are qualities you want in people making policy. These are qualities you want to continue to cultivate in yourselves as citizens. (Applause.) That might seem obvious. (Laughter.) That's why we honor Bill Moyers or Dr. Burnell. We traditionally have valued those things. But if you were listening to today's political debate, you might wonder where this strain of anti-intellectualism came from. (Applause.) So, Class of 2016, let me be as clear as I can be. In politics and in life, ignorance is not a virtue. (Applause.) It's not cool to not know what you're talking about. (Applause.) That's not keeping it real, or telling it like it is. (Laughter.) That's not challenging political correctness. That's just not knowing what you're talking about. (Applause.) And yet, we've become confused about this.

This could be a game changer for the general election.

Sheldon Adelson Is Poised to Give Donald Trump a Donation Boost
By JONATHAN MARTIN
MAY 13, 2016
The casino magnate Sheldon G. Adelson told Donald J. Trump in a private meeting last week that he was willing to contribute more to help elect him than he has to any previous campaign, a sum that could exceed $100 million, according to two Republicans with direct knowledge of Mr. Adelson’s commitment.
As significant, Mr. Adelson, a billionaire based in Las Vegas, has decided that he will significantly scale back his giving to congressional Republicans and direct most of his contributions to groups dedicated to Mr. Trump’s campaign. The two Republicans familiar with Mr. Adelson’s plans spoke anonymously because they were not authorized to discuss the matter publicly.

I know many people on Thai Visa dislike Fox News...

However...Judge Jeanine got this one right. Exactly what I believe, myself. This is why Hillary will not make it.

http://video.foxnews.com/v/4894677098001

I think people are smart enough to realize that Judge Jeanine is speaking the truth...it's not an opinion. Never mind the source (Fox) as long as the issues are the truth.

And when Rick Warren gives the Trump invocation in January next year, there will be all kinds of Schadenfreude to go around. smile.png

President Obama is effervescing to get in to the campaign after the national conventions are completed the end of July and it all heads into the clubhouse turn in early September.

He's going to rouse the millennials, the minorities, women -- the whole nine yards of the highly successful Obama coalition that got him the nomination in 2008 and the presidency twice.

Bernie will be campaigning for HRC and Bill will be out doing the hustings for the Mrs.

Trump is going to have so many targets to go after he's going to be misfiring spectacularly and make all his numbnut statements up to the present look tame.

Harvard Poll: Hillary Clinton crushes Trump among millennials with a 36-point advantage, 61% to 25%

Clinton gets 61 percent of likely millennial voters and Trump 25 percent in a hypothetical matchup between the two front-runners.

A year ago, young people preferred a generic Democrat to a Republican by a 55 to 40 percent margin. Now, that margin has grown to 28 percent, with 61 percent preferring a Democratic commander-in-chief and 33 percent wanting a Republican in the job.

http://www.usnews.com/news/articles/2016-04-25/millennials-would-settle-for-hillary-clinton-harvard-poll-shows

Also, in state by state polling of all voters.....

Just these states and the polling of all voters in each of 'em equal 278 Electoral College votes with 270 needed to be elected Potus. Clinton's largest margin with all voters is +36 percentage points over Trump in Massachusetts.

Arizona: Clinton 42 Trump 35 Clinton +7

California: Clinton 59, Trump 31 Clinton +28

Connecticut: Clinton 48, Trump 40 Clinton +8

Florida: Clinton 49 Trump 41 Clinton +8

Illiniois: Clinton 57 Trump 32 Clinton +25

Maryland: Clinton 61, Trump 28 Clinton +33

Massachusetts: Clinton 62, Trump 26 Clinton +36

Michigan: Clinton 49, Trump 38 Clinton +11

AZ, NC, UT are historically Red states that are trending toward Hillary Clinton in this election. The other states listed are states Barack Obama won twice (Mississippi is a Red state Romney won by double digits yet Trump is barely ahead of HRC there). Not listed are traditional Blue states where HRC also has a large lead, such as Vermont, Rhode Island, Delaware, Iowa, Washington state, District of Columbia, among others that will build HRC's EC number toward 350 and beyond.

Trump thump and thud.

RIP GOP.

BTW, for all you "Trump-can't-win" people . . . Trump is tied with Cankles in today's Reuters . . . having been down 15 prior to Indiana. Amazing what happens when the GOP vote coalesces.

Yes, it's too late to stop the Trump machine.

It's going to be a hell of a lot of fun around here the day after the general election. What WILL all of these anti-Trump bloviators talk about then?

Maybe they can focus a little less on the US and a bit more on what's happening in London to find out why Americans are voting Trump. whistling.gif

I saved this state poll of Clinton v Trump in November as a single post....

Oregon Poll: Clinton Leads Trump in November

DHM Research

May 11, 2016

A Clinton vs. Trump match-up in November was also tested. Here, Clinton bested Trump by 43-32.

Although lots of undecided/other in that result, the 11 point margin is similar to Barack Obama's 12 point win over Mitt Romney in 2012. Oregon has not voted Republican in the general election since 1984.

Maybe there could be a prerequisite that people be able to deliver their own state before declaring Donald Trump the next Potus. smile.png

Does Donald Trump know what he's talking about?

"It's no secret why Donald Trump doesn't want to do any more debates. Despite his delusions of grandeur, thinking he's done so wonderfully in all of them,

the reality is he really hasn't."

"Once you get beyond his histrionics at these debates,
Trump is exposed for his alarming lack of policy knowledge on a whole host of issues and is unable to explain clearly how he plans to implement the few he does." laugh.png
"Trump has flip-flopped on key issues, backtracked on others, even flat out changed his mind on some,
but those are pesky details his supporters don't seem to care about." cheesy.gifclap2.gifcheesy.gif

It's really early to make any definitive assumptions about what the dynamics will be election day. We've got two candidates with historically high negatives and trump's negatives will still be more severe at election time. (Impossible for him to do much repair with women, blacks, and Latinos). But it's dangerous to push the idea that it's impossible for trump to win. The odds are against him but it's possible. We don't want to get complacent. Otherwise, too many people will just stay home (as leftists do during midterms) which would greatly increase trump's odds.

GOP leaders describe unity as the education of Donald Trump

"Top Republicans suggested on Sunday that Donald Trump needs more public policy schooling, particularly on foreign affairs..."

"I think he's going to need to learn. He's going to need to understand really completely, how complex this world is," cheesy.gif

said Trump's top Senate ally and top foreign policy adviser, Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala.

"To Rep. Tom Cole, R-Okla., Trump "is a work in progress," more so than most candidates. "Usually you know a lot more about a candidate because they've run for other things.

They've cast votes. They've done things. And he does have a shoot-from-the-hip style."

"The policy education for Trump and his team appears to be underway. And lately, Trump has taken to describing his policy proposals as merely "suggestions."

But Trump also has said he's his own best foreign policy adviser." laugh.png

That was as you note President Obama at Rutgers which is in fact the state public university of New Jersey. (Who wants to be a grad of New Jersey University !)

If Trump is elected his first commencement address will be at the New Jersey Air Conditioning Academy. gigglem.gif

However NJACA has yet to be founded -- by Donald Trump of course. The art of the swindle.

Trump said today in contrast to Obama that the British have always been a friend to America and he didn't care much for doing business with the EU and in any event - would move the Brits to the front of the Que not at the end like Barak Hussein Obama.

Is Trump's position ignorant? After all the flack he has received recently from the UK I think it's rather benevolent.

Trump to face trial after election in Trump University suit

"Donald Trump will go to trial in a class-action lawsuit against him and his now-defunct Trump University after the presidential election but before the inauguration..."

"U.S. District Judge Gonzalo Curiel on Friday scheduled trial for Nov. 28 in the suit that alleges people who paid up to $35,000 for real estate seminars got defrauded.
The lawsuit is one of three that accuse Trump University of fleecing students with unfulfilled promises to teach secrets of success in real estate."

"The San Diego suit says Trump University, which no longer operates and was not accredited as a school,

gave seminars and classes across the country that were like infomercials, constantly pressuring students to buy more and, in the end, failing to deliver."

If Trump had a twin brother who wanted to fly Trump's jet. The interview would go something like this:

Trump double (TD): "I wanna fly your jet"

Trump original (TO): "Have you ever flown a jet before?"

TD: "What does that matter? I've been a very very successful businessman like you. I'm worth many billions of dollars like you."

TO: "Well, I and my staff will be on that plane, so we'd kinda like a skilled pilot to be at the controls. It's a complicated machine. and......"

TD: (shouting while interrupting) "Excuse me! Excuse me! Excuse me!"

TO: (shouting back at his twin) "Excuse me! Excuse me! Excuse me!"

Trump's twin shouts louder and longer than the original Trump, so the twin gets to pilot the plane. Plane crashes. Big mess on the ground.

Moral of the story: don't let an inexperienced person pilot a large complicated machine (or a large complex country). It could crash and make a big mess.

Below is more from the Trump interview that shows your view is not correct.
Morgan then asked (Trump): "We wouldn't be back of the queue with trade?"
And Trump answered: "You would certainly not be back of the queue. That I can tell you."
"I don't think they'll be hurt at all. I mean, they'll have to make their own deal. Britain's been a great ally," he said in an interview with ITV's "Good Morning Britain"

This is like the Hillary email server nonsense the Republicans are hanging their hats. Democrats don't need this. Trump is enough of a buffoon on his own.

This Trump University crap really happened, but I wouldn't think this would have much impact on the election. It will probably get continued and when Trump eventually loses, he'll declare victory and insult the plaintiffs, the usual.

By the time the Trump University case gets decided, Trump's name will have an asterisk beside with the final election results.

Those who count themselves die-hard Trump fans won't care a fig about the trial re; Trump's fake University. There is nothing he can do or say which will lose his core. No amount of lies, contradictions, dumb-ass policy statements, sex scandals, ......nuttin'.

The good news is, his core base supporters are about 17% of the electorate, and that small slice won't grow between now and Nov.

Trump criticises EU for being ‘difficult' and bureaucratic.
