BANGKOK, 27 March 2016 (NNT) - A member of the National Reform Steering Assembly (NRSA) said today he disagrees with the idea that members of the upper house, appointed during the political transition, should have the power to hold a no confidence motion against the government.

In response to the proposal of the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO), NRSA member Nikorn Jamnong said the appointed senate would have too much power if the constitution allowed it to hold a no confidence vote against the government, adding that only elected senators should have the power to impeach political office holders. Therefore, the power of appointed senators should not be the same as that of elected senators.

Mr Nikorn went on to say that he also disagreed with the idea of having the reform assembly serve as the upper house during the political transition which is expected to take approximately 5 years.

The man is right, it is immoral for appointed people who are not answerable to the public to hold no confidence debates about politicians. Thailand is in such a mess, there are seemingly only a very small handful of politicians who even appear like they would make the progress of the country and its people their primary objective.
Almost all are not even apologetic about seen to be rooting for the interests of themselves / their cronies / their masters. Pathetic and very sad really

At least one person appointed by the junta is worthy of holding his position. As for the rest, well they can be charged with deriliction of duty when it all falls apart.

and I have no doubt this one will be called in for a spot of "AA" prior to that.
