CDC accepts proposed changes to draft charter from networks of village chiefs

BANGKOK, 27 March 2016 (NNT) - The Constitution Drafting Commission has accepted proposals on changes to the draft charter from networks of village chiefs and local leaders.

CDC spokesman Amorn Wanichwiwatana has met with representatives of the network of local administrative organizations, the network of Kamnan and village chiefs, who gathered to present their suggestions on the draft Constitution.

The proposals, which Mr. Amorn accepted on the CDC’s behalf, asked for some changes to the parts which are related to local administration, due to worries about a possible failure of the decentralization of power.

They also asked for the setting up of a local administrative council to help direct such an effort and to support the power of the chiefs of villages and Tambons, while assigning clear missions along with suitable budgets to empower respective local administrative organizations.

That's all that needs to be said. It's all about money, nothing else. Corrupt to the core. The rest is all BS. If the CDC had not gone along with this, ever village head would have run a campaign to defeat the charter and the CDC knew it.

The CDC has accepted many proposed changes to the draft charter from the public. But what ACTUALLY gets into the draft depends on whether it is compliant with the NCPO principles. There is nothing in ths article that confirms the changes proposed by the network of Kamnan and village chiefs were incorporated into the draft.
