BANGKOK, 27 March 2016 (NNT) - The spokesman of the Constitution Drafting Commission is confident the final draft charter, which was reviewed by the charter drafters at a weekend retreat, will help restore Thailand’s democracy.

CDC spokesman Norachit Sinhaseni said that the charter drafters’ retreat in Prahucap Khiri Khan from March 23 to 26, came to an end with 16 sections and 279 articles.

Mr. Norachit said that the election will take place after the new Constitution is put into use. Meanwhile four laws must be passed: namely the law on the election of members of parliament, the law on the selection of senators, the law on political parties and the law on the election commission.

He believes that the new charter will help Thailand return to truly democratic rule while preventing those who are found guilty of corruption from returning to politics.

Mr. Norachit also gave an assurance that the new Constitution will protect the rights and freedoms of the people.

He added that the CDC President will hold a news conference on the final review of the draft charter on March 29, before submitting it to the government.

One doesn't want to continue to correct the CDC, the doyen of Thai democracy , but what is the difference between election of members of Parliament and law on the selection of Senators, both are members of parliament, both should be elected by the people , the only other glaring example of why would a Senate member be selected by their peers , would be a corrupt entry level by the military back into the management of the Country, viewed by a percentage of the population , as unacceptable.......................................................coffee1.gif .
